Rep. Allen West Ascribes Saul Alinsky Conspiracy Theory to Lower Unemployment Rate

Erin Brown

It’s no surprise that in the wake of President Obama’s depressing debate performance against Mitt Romney this week, the Left and the media are ecstatic about the latest jobs number report this morning claiming that that unemployment rate fell from 8.1 percent to 7.8 in September.

But not everyone is buying the good news for the president and Rep. Allen West (R-FL) is leading the speculation camp with a conspiracy theory about “Saul Alinsky tactics” and “Chicago style politics” at work to cook the numbers in Obama’s favor.

After stating that he agrees with former GE CEO Jack Welch about the “Chicago style politics at work,” West argues in a press release on Facebook, that “Somehow by manipulation of data we are all of a sudden below 8 percent unemployment, a month from the Presidential election. This is Orwellian to say the least and representative of Saul Alinsky tactics from the book ‘Rules for Radicals’- a must read for all who want to know how the left strategize.”

West then suggests that Americans are not to trust the Obama administration because just last month it was dishonest with the American people about the true reason behind the terrorist attacks in Libya. “Trust the Obama administration?” he asked readers. “Sure, and the spontaneous reaction to a video caused the death of our Ambassador……and pigs fly.”

West isn’t alone in thinking the new unemployment number is suspiciously low. Representative Bill Huizenga (R – MI) suggested a lack of labor force participation when he tweeted this morning, “FYI: If labor force participation was at the level it was when Obama came into office unemployment would be 10.7% http://owl.li/efp7O #tcot”

Regardless of what you think about the jobless numbers and/or how it was achieved, the Left will desperately cling to it for the next 32 days as the Obama campaign needs every bit of good news in this dismal economy to propel him toward a reelection victory.

What are you talking about? You are saying unemployment fell .2% after an increase in jobs of 440,000 in 2003, and yet today it fell .3% after an increase of only 114,000 jobs. You are just helping to advance the notion that today’s numbers are a fraud.

This just may be the most corrupt administration in history.

And the media refuses to do it's job. It's become an American Pravda. It's nothing more than left wing tabloid.

I hope no one else will believe this lie. I hope most voters know, deep inside, this is a trick deliberately meant to deceive them.

The Kenyan desperately needed a bellow 8% unemployment number to rally behind to shut down Romney and the Republicans # offensive argument, jobs. And his minions gave it to him.

Now that pesky 8% unemployment number has been removed from future debates!

While I agree, these numbers are BS, I think Obama will pull ahead again, possibly to over 50.

Maybe a little blip for a day or two, then it drops back when folks realize nothing has changed in their lives.

This "lower unemployment rate" hooey captures the moron vote, but Obama has pretty much locked that up already.

I'm sure the Romney camp will dig through those numbers and expose them in the next debate. He can't allow this deceit to continue. The future is depending on him right now to get the truth out, because the liberal media minions are many, and there's no way they're going to blasphemy their messiah a month before the election.

John Scott on Fox News just said that the unemployment number has been terrible so long that now all of a sudden awful looks good!

Can't wait to hear Joe Biden saying;

"In four years Barack Obama has brought our economy all the way back from terrible to awful! God love him! Stand up, Barack!"

I am saying just like with this recent number you had a much larger increases in employment from the Household Survey than the Establishment Survey. You confused the numbers. In Nov 2003, the number comparable to the 114 K today was only 14,000 but the household survey reported 440,000.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all for crazy Joe to say that, he supports his boss even though he is an inept supporter. :-)

Cooked up numbers too?

In Nov 2003? What would have been the purpose?

Look at current year U6, 14.7% in September and August.

What was it in Oct. and Nov. 2003? Perhaps that will help you answer your question.

Bears repeating and pass it on:

"But the U6 computation of unemployed, underemployed, and discouraged Americans remains the same at 14.7 percent."

Spread the word and let every American know the real unemployment number.

I agree with Rep. West. This whole jobs numbers coming out after the first debate is definitely made up. I don't doubt the numbers to go lower again come the next debate, and by the third presidential debate, the jobs numbers will be down to 6.3%.

Love the Glenn McCoy 'toon, by the way!
