Once-reluctant Mitt Romney opens up on the campaign trail - “Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose!”
Washington Post ^ | October 6, 2012 | Philip Rucker,

ST. PETERSBURG,Fla.—Mitt Romney, his friends often say, is a private man in a public world. But with just one month left until the election, he has calculated that to win the presidency he must do what for years he has been loath to: share intimate stories about his life.

So it was that as the sun set on his rally here Friday night,...Romney talked about David for the first time himself.

“It was clear he was not going to make it,”Romney said. “I went into his room one night when he was in bed,and he asked me a very difficult question. He said, ‘Mitt, what’s next?’ He called me ‘Brother Romney.’ ‘What’s next?’ And I talked to him about what I believe is next.”

A few days later, when David was in the hospital,he called Romney.

“I was at work and he said,‘Can you come by?’ And he said,‘You went to law school, right?'”

Romney told him yes. “He said,‘Could you come by and write my will for me?'” Romney recalled. “So I went to David’s bedside and got a piece of legal paper, made it look very official. And then David proceeded to tell me what he wanted to give his friends. Talked about his fishing rod, and who would get that. He talked about his skateboard, who’d get that. And his rifle — that went to his brother.”

“I’ve seen the character of a young man like David,” Romney continued. “He had his eyes wide open. There’s a saying — Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose.’ David couldn’t lose. I loved that young man.”

It just so happens that a banner with the same adage hung over Romney’s holding room backstage at Wednesday night’s debate in Denver. As he walked out to debate the president,Romney looked up and read, “Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose!”

Go away, ankle biter...You are annoying and irrelevant, yet continue to nip like a damned Chihuahua. Take your Taco Bell arguments to a libtard site...they will love your return.

“Your posts indicate a bitter or perhaps just angry person. Have you thought about the fact that Almighty God, in His wisdom uses unbelievers to accomplish His ends? Romney might not be a Christian, but that can’t stop God from accomplishing great things through him.”

I sure am angry! I’d like to go into the Republican temples and flip the money changing tables around. It’s because the whole thing is a farce. That’s a hard thing to deal with, especially when you have alleged Christians who even defend Mormonism just because Mittens is the nominee. It’s putting politics first over truth.

It’s true that God can even use his enemies to fulfill his will. But, since most of you are mad at me because I did not want to confess Mittens a Saint, I suspect His will in giving us either a Commie or a Progressive as our “choices” is to bury us totally. God often uses evil rulers as instruments of judgment on people. Who knows what the future has in store... but, I don’t see anything positive coming from exalting these liars and fiends.

Now that your cover is blown Troll bot no one is going to take you seriously here.

You are an Obama-bot. Stupid as that is we could at least respect it if you were HONEST. When you start out with a lie everything else you post immediately becomes suspect.

Since we have all ready caught you lying about your real agenda, what else are you lying to us about?

Understood. But sometimes we are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. It’s not easy. Pray for him. I pray for people who give me pain. Pray for Obama...that God’s will be done in his life. ;-)

How about you go look at my post history, which you probably have from end to end, and tell me where I’ve ever said anything different about this race? Or have ever held a position of supporting Romney? And, while you’re at it, how about you tell me one thing that I have written about Romney that is false?

And then we can talk about how you’ve attacked me on every thread we’ve ever tangled in, personally, in the same way, over and over again, and not just me, but anyone who does not pimp for Mittens. So, obviously, I am not a secret to you! Especially on the Mormonism threads, you were always depended on to come in and defend a religious cult, accusing people of not being “Christ like” for pointing out that Mormonism isn’t “Christ like.”

MittBot, please.

“Understood. But sometimes we are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. It’s not easy. Pray for him. I pray for people who give me pain. Pray for Obama...that God’s will be done in his life. ;-)”

I HAVE prayed for them both. And I am not going to be silent about WHY I have prayed for them.

But as for “choosing.” My choice is to stay home and not participate in a system that is dedicated to enslaving me and mine.

If Romney’s economic plan was serious, I MIGHT have had second thoughts, but his plan is based on hokus pokus. Most of his predictions are predicated on the idea of 4 to 5 percent growth in GDP every year, wishful thinking, especially when you realize we have had no real growth in this country in over 30 years. The GDP has increased... from government spending! Even the “Math Wiz” Ryan with his second budget plan was just moving money out of medicare to put it into something else. And the budget would be “balanced” by the year 2030 (or was it 2040?) based on the assumption of 2 point something percent unemployment and, again, 5 percent growth in GDP every year. Basically, it’s the same thing as saying that the budget will NEVER be balanced.

The Republicans have demonstrated again and again that they will play these games with us, making these fake plans to “grow” us comfortably out of debt, because they are too afraid to make the real cuts necessary to actually get us out of debt.

This is why I say the collapse is inevitable. Because there is no one willing to take the painful actions necessary to pull us out. Once Europe finally kicks the bucket, we’ll be next.

“a liar and known evildoer”

You sound like a dKos liberal. Mitt Romney is law-abiding super-acheiver and a caring man who raised 5 sons, did a will for a dying 14-year-old boy scout, spent his life building companies that created wealth and prosperity for many, including the episcopalian church retirement fund, saved an olympics, and gave millions to charities like the Boy Scouts of America. Are you so much of a bigot that you consider that life “evildoer”?!?

You dont need to ‘worship’ Mitt Romney, heck, you dont even need to vote for him, if you want to be a disgruntled fool for Obama’s re-election. But calling him ‘evil’ ... that’s sick.

Yeah, she should have ignored Mitt’s advice and had him raised by the Commie grandparents, just like Barack Obama.
Once again, your pro-Obama sycophancy is showing.

“Mitt Romney is law-abiding progressive and a pathological liar who embraced every progressive platform issue of note in Mass., worked with a socialist to develop RomneyCare, believes homosexuals should be allowed in the boy scouts, spent his life running MA into the ground with leftism, was a bishop in a religious cult, saved the Olympics with tax payer money, even laughing in a tape that he found “creative” ways to milk as much money as possible from the federal government, while in the debates lying about his record, and gave millions to the LDS. Are you so much of a bigot that you consider that life “evildoer”?!?”

There, fixed it for you.

Mitt, you've still got a ways to go with me, but I must admit, you're doing a very good job. Keep doing what you're doing, and I think you'll win over the country.

I might can leave that clothespin at home when I go vote.

I don't think you're alone. I just pictured millions of wastebaskets with clothes pins in them. Mitt is definitely winning over the skeptics on the right.

I'm thinking that by November 6th, a lot of folks who initially intended to vote AGAINST Obama, will now be voting FOR Romney. That's a job well done in anyone's book.

My first thought is does Obama have even one story like this? Is there a single example of him engaging in personal charity or outreach? If there is, I'm unaware of it...

Hussein claims to be the son of one Barack Obama Sr., which makes George Obama of Kenya his half brother.

It's well known that George Obama lives in utter squalor, yet his half brother, who is a millionaire several times over can't find it within him to do a thing to help his own brother escape that poverty.

That's how charitable Barack Obama is.

For some reason I think Mitt is in this for the right reasons. He doesn’t need this job - he is at the age where he can retired and comfortably so. Something tells me there are deeper reasons for his candidacy and that could be that he truly cares about this country.

I haven't been a Mitt fan, but I agree with your analysis. Mitt is more successful than the vast majority of Americans. He worked hard, and earned his American dream. And what a dream it is. He doesn't need the job. He makes enough money from his investments to live the rest of his days in absolute splendor.

I'd like to believe that he was being honest when he said that he's in this race to turn the country around, so that his fellow Americans could reclaim the promise of the Framers and our Constitution.

Remember when Mitt motioned behind him to the words of our Founding Documents written on the walls of the debate arena? Go back and watch Obama's reaction to that, on the split screen. He shut down, and drew a blank mask over his face, but I could tell that he felt nothing but contempt for what Romney was saying in that moment.

“Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose!”

There's definitely something there. I'm beginning to believe that Romney has had an epiphany of sorts, and that he's rediscovered something that lives inside all conservatives. He showed me that on Wednesday night, and I must admit, it was a welcome sight.

Thank you for keeping the thread bumped so many more FReepers read about Mitt Romney and “Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose!”

We all have a purpose and you served yours well by moving the thread.

Through your judgmental posts to other FReepers, you’ve helped to galvanize more supporters for Romney-Ryan.

If it’s not too personal, do you have children?

And, hopefully, some of them will stop and think before they blindly join into the cult of personality and group-think for a confirmed liar and enemy to our cause.

Thank you.
