Find out more about Ms. Sears.

Although you probably know by reading her "letter" that she's not really all there...

Do-gooders make me sick.

This woman feels morally superior because she lacks the ability to perform simple construction tasks and is dependent on others to get that work done.
She despises Mitt because Mitt had the skills and put in the effort to do the work himself.

Such a twisted way of looking at the world. This is the world that Ayn Rand saw and predicted. It's in full bloom now.

How to build and maintain a loving family:

“he decided to build it himself with his sons’ help”

Sometimes it is not about money.

There was a great comment about making your own sandwich and mowing your own lawn - putting deli employees and landscapers out of work.

she was too lazy and lacked the skills so she hired someone else to do it. BS that she hired someone for the greater good.

So the Romneys are self-reliant and this Sears individual is a condescending, patronizing tool. So we’ve learned nothing new.

When he learned what it would cost, he decided to build it himself with his sons’ help. In this one action, Mr. Romney unwittingly displayed who he really is.

A self-sufficient man who is not afraid to get his hands dirty.

Typical liberal.....would rather see money wasted than see ‘common sense’ prevail.

Not only that, but also someone who understands the importance of a project that the whole family can work together on.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. If this is all the Dems can respond with after the past week, then things are going well for our side.

I remember in the 1992 election, as we entered that last month things started to look very bad for Bush Sr. and thus his campaign started to lash out with a lot of negative advertising and commentary about Clinton and his character.

Now yes, I did like that advertising and thought it accurate, but the people in the middle didn’t. They wanted an optimistic person for President, not some campaign tossing mud at the other side.

Mitt just needs to stay positive and above the fray and let the nut cases like this letter writer keep it up. We don’t even need to bother to respond to stuff like this. It speaks for itself.

“We looked at the cost of the raw goods, the amount of time it would take us and our lack of professionalism in this arena.”

Building frames, pouring and finishing concrete: So simple that even a selfish Republican or caveman can do it. But not a Democrat, because they’re always thinking of others.

I suspect her car is a Prius, powered only by her smug sense of self-satisfaction.

"...our lack of professionalism in this arena."

Her walkway building skills appear to match those of her writing abilities.

We did what every reasonable homeowner does: We got three estimates, then hired the firm we thought would do the work best and at the fairest price.

No reasonable homeowner does any DIY projects? Ha! My dad was a a resonably paid executive and never hired anyone to do something like this in his life. I was dragged out of bed on many a weekend to help pour concrete walkways, build retaining walls, dig drainage ditches, etc. If I asked why he didn't just hire someone since he could afford it, the answer was "that's what I have you boys for". He also fixed his own car, built his own furnature, and we kids learned how to do all those things by helping.

If he had contracted it out they'd have remarked on how "out-of-touch" he was.

Mitt Romney asked a contractor (perhaps a small business) for an estimate to construct a walkway. When he learned what it would cost, he decided to build it himself with his sons’ help. In this one action, Mr. Romney unwittingly displayed who he really is.

Maybe the contractor wouldn't do the walkway the way Mitt wanted it done. I had that happened to me, I wanted a walkway put in and the contractor I was going to hire started to tell me what was wrong with my plan. I did it myself!!

Can you imagine how self satisfied and proud those sons along with their father felt after completing that project? How pleased they must feel everytime they walk on that walkway, knowing they built it? And that they made their dad happy, as well as feeling good about themselves. That’s what doing it yourself results in. Self satisfaction and a great sense of accomplishment.

hey, Cynde was satisfied with herself for writing that check. Are you suggesting that’s not an accomplishment?
