DRONE DOWNED OVER ISRAEL TIED TO IRAN
WND ^ | 10/07/2012 | Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM – The unidentified aerial vehicle that was downed yesterday after penetrating Israel’s airspace was the suspected work of a combined operation of two Iranian-backed groups – Hezbollah and the Islamic Jihad – according to Middle East security officials.

The security officials said they believe the purpose of flying the drone into Israel was twofold: To collect aerial reconnaissance photos and video intelligence; and as a test to see how deep an unmanned drone can penetrate Israel before being detected by the Israeli army.

There is fear that in the future such drones can be laden with a large amount of explosives for use in precision attacks against military or civilian targets, possibly even including large buildings.

In the case of yesterday’s attempt, the drone reportedly flew at least 15 minutes – a full 35 miles – in Israeli airspace before being shot down by the Israel Air Force. It entered Israel from over the Mediterranean Sea to the West and briefly flew over the Gaza Strip.

The Israel Defense Forces has maintained that it was tracking the drone throughout the course of its flight, coordinating with both aerial and ground forces. Fighter jets were dispatched from the Ramon air force base in the Negev; the jets eventually shot down the drone over an unpopulated forest area.

IDF Spokesperson Yoav Mordechai stated, “The aircraft was identified before entering Israeli airspace and was under constant tracking.”

The IDF is reportedly examining the drone.

Questions have been raised by the Israeli media as to why the drone was not shot down before it flew into Israeli airspace for more than 30 miles over civilian zones in the southern Israeli Negev desert.

of COURSE it is tied with Iran....

I think maybe they are nervous over our elections now that things are looking a bit more like it will be a ROMNEY/RYAN administration next year!

They want to test the waters while we still have ZERO in office.

Maybe they want to even create a crisis...who knows!

Detect, Identify, Intercept and Destroy. It looks like Israels response time was good and their reactions indicate they can handle it.

I didn’t know the Iranians had this sophisticated military technology... if so, I wonder how they acquired it...

We don’t know how sophisticated it is.

Remember, in the US, high school kids are building these.

I guess we are going to have to rely on Israel to be the leader of the free world, at least until Jan. 13, if not longer.

Thank you Israel, hang tough.

___________________________

So, our high school kids are so smart, sophisticated and well endowed with grant money that they can build aircrafts that have :

* Remote sensing capabilities

* Surveillance capabilities

* Remote control capabilities over huge geographic regions

* The ability to combine information from different sensors for use on board the vehicle

* Handling communication and coordination between multiple agents in the presence of incomplete and imperfect information

* Path planning: Determining an optimal path for vehicle to go while meeting certain objectives and mission constraints, such as obstacles or fuel requirements

* Trajectory Generation (sometimes called Motion planning): Determining an optimal control maneuver to take to follow a given path or to go from one location to another

* Trajectory Regulation: The specific control strategies required to constrain a vehicle within some tolerance to a trajectory

* Task Allocation and Scheduling: Determining the optimal distribution of tasks amongst a group of agents, with time and equipment constraints

* Cooperative Tactics: Formulating an optimal sequence and spatial distribution of activities between agents in order to maximize chance of success in any given mission scenario

And I thought our high schools are failing....

Let’s hope Jan. 13 is the correct date. I don’t know if I can personally stand “longer”.

Iran probably thought by now they’d be fighting a proxy war (via no fly zone) with the US in Syria, with real Russian’s manning Assad’s anti aircraft installations. Instead they are fighting a war now with the Turks; and, Qatar/Saudi arms suppliers with deep pockets. Iran is losing face, maybe this drone mission was envisioned as some small propaganda victory. You have to wonder if Palestinian’s are now showing up to fight Assad -Iran by proxy?

Where did you get the info that the Iran Muzzie Special had all that capability? Are you getting tweets from the IDF?

Actually, it was 30 minites not 15, second: it was in the air long enough to acquire ELINT signatures of the Dimona nuclear reactor’s air defenses and the American X-band radar station linked to the US X-band station in Turkey, third: it was not ordered shot down until the political comcideration was bucked up to Bebe. Time enough for the Hizballah to have detonated a nuke gained from Iran.

The likely purpose of the drone flight was to monitor and analyze Israeli response and tactics (sigint, elint).

In perspective Israei's response time was effectively short.

In the US and F-16 on hot ramp alert can't get from Mass to NYC in that time. Throw in target acquisition time and ROEs that give permission for shootdown and I doubt we could effectively respond in 45 minute to an hour.

The problem for Israel is that their country is so small that 15 minutes makes a critical difference.

Not so satire, satire

Obama Administration official White House Statement : Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad enjoys the hobby of radio controled airplanes and it's unfortunate that his hobby plane got shot down over Israel: we will make sure Israel replaces it for him.

The Iranians are scoping Israel out, or casing the joint to see where Israel weak points are.
