Lara Logan, a correspondent for CBS’ “60 Minutes,” delivered a provocative speech to about 1,100 influentials from government, politics, media, and the legal and corporate arenas. Such downtown gatherings are a regular on Chicago’s networking circuit. (I am a member of the BGA’s Civic Leadership Committee, and the Chicago Sun-Times was a sponsor).
Her ominous and frightening message was gleaned from years of covering our wars in the Middle East. She arrived in Chicago on the heels of her Sept. 30 report, “The Longest War.” It examined the Afghanistan conflict and exposed the perils that still confront America, 11 years after 9/11.

This should not be a surprise. In many ways, the Afghanistan war is a modern version of the Vietnam war. Hearts and Minds campaigns, Rules of Engagement that hamstring our forces, allowing safe havens, winking at our “ally” Pakistan, a PM (Karzai) who plays both sides, and, of course, a dedicated insurgency with a long term view of victory.

I see CBS easing her out for this. Hopefully, Fox will snatch her up. She's smart, honest, and a babe, and would make a good addition to their lineup.
IMHO Muslims have much more respect for conservatives than liberals. We’re not pro-gay marriage or pro-abortion and we are not afraid to fight when necessary.

I am sorry for what happened to her, it shouldn’t happen to anyone. That said, I hope she has really seen the light. It isn’t easy for a liberal to admit their whole set of core beliefs are wrongheaded lies. She certainly has the whole ME fiasco pegged correctly though.

I was under the assumption that all embassies were on their country’s soil. IE: Canadian embassy in Kiev is Canadian soil etc.

From the history I remember, journalism used to advocate all the time. Had a lot of different names such “yellow journalism” and “muckraking.” I seem to recall one newspaper publisher called the Spanish-American War, “his war.” They have been advocating a bunch since I was kid - remember “Uncle” Walter?

I believe our embassies are considered sacrosanct and as being on American soil. Of course, nothing is inviolate to these uncivilized pigs.
