Her district was gerrymandered. It was formerly the district of respected conservative congressman Barber Conable. It is a disgrace it went from Conable to this clown.
Ronald Reagan was 69 when voted in as President. He was re-elected when he was 72. Gee, he was old, must not have accomplished anything at those ages. /s

If Democrat voters seriously wanted to reject her, they wouldn’t vote straight ticket so they could dump her. If they are voting straight ticket, then they accept her.
Not a fan of Lonsberry, just don’t like the messenger. This column is weak, there is so much low hanging fruit to pick in the form of her record. Wasn’t Lady Slaughter ready to shred the Constitution to deem Obamacare passed? There’s also a You Tube video out there where Paul Ryan shreds her to pieces in a hearing. Hope Maggie defeats her.

You are the one who posted this thread about her age, I didn't. If you were a little more on the ball, you would know I posted about Reagan because he was “old” when he was elected and re-elected. That is comparing ages, not policy and if you couldn't figure that out, perhaps you need an IQ test. I also notice you are a newbie to this forum.
Slaughter was first elected to Congress in 1986. Her ACU ratings over the years ranged from a high of 17 in 1990 to absolute zero in 1994, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2010 with a 25 year lifetime overall average of 4.99. The only other year she had a double digit rating was her first year in 1987 at a 10. She has been the direct beneficiary of gerrymandering of her district from the suburbs to include the inner city of Rochester as the overall population of New York State decreased because of residents fleeing the state due to the stratospheric taxes enacted by a RAT-dominated state legislature(to support their downstate liberal base in New York City).
My Mom will be 90 next month. She is healthy and sharp as a tac. She drives all over the place and has a better social life than we do. She also still cleans her own house and works in the yard.
Julia Carson was illiterate AND senile and hung on to her Congress seat here in Indianapolis until she died. Then they elected her grandson who’s even worse - a liberal AND a Muzzie.
Marcella, Reagan was vigorous and agile in his later 70s. Slaughter is not agile nor quick, even 10 years ago. In fact, she had to be arm twisted into debating Maggie Brooks. It is not so much I am a newbie, or that I posted an article by Bob Lonsberry about the age issue, is that you did not even read a word of the article. If you saw how she looks and sounds on C-Span you would be profusely apologizing and kowtowing to me like Obama to a third world dictator!

I always read an entire article before commenting. If you weren't a newbie, you would know that about me. Our conversation is done - you aren't going to vote for a Democrat and the other voters will vote as they wish - end of story.
Louise was one of the few congresswoman who absolutely refused to hold town hall meetings on Obamacare. I have very little respect for her, but the fact she is not accountable for her votes and is unwilling to face the public and defend her votes, shows me she is a slimeball. She is also one of the proponents of the Fairness Doctrine, which will be damaging to conservative talk radio.
You seem very defensive and on the ropes here. I will cut you some slack. I am not a true newbie, by the way, as I have read articles on this site for years before I became a member. End of story...game set and match ME!

The Founders put it in there because they know that with age comes wisdom. They never expected, however, to see octogenarians plus still serving. In those days, people that old had a coveted position.

Well, that may be true...I think the downward limit is good, and we have that for a number of things (drivers licenses, for example).
But nobody who started running for office at an advanced age would be elected - unless they happened to be really, truly worthy, and in that case there’s no problem.
The only ones who take their seats in the legislature in their late 70s or 80s (or even 90s) are people who have had way too many terms. Limit EVERYBODY to two terms and there’s no problem.
There are many reasons other than old age for which we should impose term limits. By the 3rd or 4th term, any legislator is going to be so corrupt and bought out by different groups that he or she has ceased to perform any useful function, and in fact that’s one of the reason that they all retire (eventually) as millionaires. In addition, they have stopped younger and better talent from coming up behind them.
2 terms, no more.
