Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is a professed heavy metal fan, but he’ll be getting a little help on the campaign trail from a musician known more these days for his guitar-heavy rock tunes than his headbanging prowess.

Michigan native Kid Rock will appear and introduce the Wisconsin congressman at a Monday rally in the rocker’s home state, according to the local news site mlive.com.

My family fought in ever war this country ever fought in, Pequot War, 1637, on. I don't feel offended, I did two tours in Viet Nam and I don't feel Offended, I also participated in organizing or showing up and protesting at 150 FReeeps and I still don't feel offended, if you think that a show of patriotism is offensive I think you have a problem.

Thanks for the additional info...it’s a great riff and I’m surprised it doesn’t appear in other songs.

If you think using Old Glory as costume isn’t offensive, then you are the one with the problem. Sorry that you don’t understand the flag code or the sanctity of the greatest symbol of freedom the world has known.

So you would also object to buxom American women in flag based bikini’s as well?

The question is, was his intention to disgrace the flag?

Huh? Do think tits are what makes America great? Disgracing the flag isn't a matter of intent, it is a matter of action. Cutting a hole in the middle of one so you can wear it like a poncho isn't by any definition a display of patriotism.

I am surprised that Old Glorie was even presented, I understand the Flag Code but I also understand Patriotism.

I revier the Constitution and the Founding Documents and fight to rid the treason of the last 100 years, but I grew up in the 1960’s when to show the colors was was to invite a fight.

If I have to erect a false god and betray the underlying beliefs that created those colors, it is a symbol to be respected, but is not to be revered but to be respected for the symbol that it is and the underlying principles that it stands for, I find no fault with Kid Rock.

I disagree with his methods, but his intent was good

he is a favorite of the troops, too, overseas, from what I hear

Not my cup of tea, but he sure aint CODE PINK! :)

I just wish he didn’t us the flag for that, but he isn’t wiping his butt with it, he is wearing it as a sense of pride...

Dumb for us old farts, trendy and slick and “presenting” to the young’uns

I’m a social conservative and I love Kid Rock’s anthem All Summer Long. I wasn’t always a 61 year old fart you know.

There’s a mission for you to travel this country and find all the places flying an unlit flag at night. They’re all over. These places are showing the same disrespect as that which you’ve expressed outrage.

Have at it.

Here’s what I think: There was a time when respecting the flag meant something. I guess I’m not as up to date as all of you. I’m glad, cause when I see the Stars and Stripes I think about the men at Missionary Ridge, Resaca de la Palma, and San Juan Hill; I think about Belleau Wood and Nicaragua; I think about my father at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo and Okinawa; I think about Chosin, Quang Tri, and Beiruit; I think about Baghdad and Kandahar; I think about every drop of patriots’ blood shed for an ideal. And I think that every person who wants to apologize for the scum-sucking piece of shit who wants to take the banner that represents the blood and sacrifice of generations and drape it over him like a rag so he can dance around and sing and pretend that makes him patriotic need to reexamine their own hearts. That’s what I think.
