The Hispanic Vote
Center For Immigration Studies ^ | 09 October 2012 | James R. Edwards Jr.

Posted on 10/09/2012 11:07:11 AM PDT by zeestephen

The writer cites the Pew Research Center's finding that Latinos are 3-to-1 Democrats over Republicans - Hispanic Gov. Susana Martinez (R-New Mexico) only won 38 percent of New Mexico's Latino vote - Excluding Cubans, Hispanic Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) won only 40% of the Latino vote.

The GOP's most destructive political fantasy:

"Latinos are social conservatives who should lean Republican."

Election after election, non-Cuban Hispanic voters overwhelmingly support Democrat candidates.

Abortion, homosexual marriage, and small government are NOT politically decisive issues for this voting bloc.

There is no special reason to pander to them. Especially when you have to temper your ideals and goals for the success of this country.

Bingo! They will vote for what they see as their best economic interest, even if it means destroying themselves and their families by becoming welfare dependents. We are always told that blacks are socially conservative, but they vote for Democrats regardless. Always follow the money.

Re: “A ruse by the Chamber of Commerce”

Don't forget the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal.

That crew has been promoting “Open Borders” since Reagan was president, maybe even before, but I can't recall further back than that.

It's always the same song with the allegedly “Conservative” WSJ...

More immigration equals more prosperity...

Or, immigrants are natural allies of Conservatives...

Blah, blah, blah.

Not ONE WORD about new immigrant citizens voting 70%-80% for the Democrat Party!

I started reading WSJ’s editorial page in the 1960’s.

Back then, WSJ and Buckley's National Review were the preeminent Conservative publications in the world.

Both of them have now become a hollow shell of Center-Right appeasement politics.

Gotta factor in the propaganda---the nacho vote cant be taken seriously. The mfg hype is going 24/7.

Couple points:

(1) Solomon Ortiz was in Congress since 1983 repping a solid Mexican-centered district----and got defeated in 2010 by Repub conservative Blake Farenthold.

(2) Dem Gov Jon Corzine fell to his knees and was BJ'ing latinos like crazy to get reelection votes----never happened. He got beaten by Chris Christie whose running mate was a sheriff who had angered latinos w/ the 213(G) provision.

Loser Corzine had 4-1 Dem registrations and had outspent Christie by tens of millions. Corzine even had a "Peruvian" Pac supporting him.

The WSJ and the various Chambers of Commerce are all open borders. They won’t admit it, they just advocate the “benefits” of it. Most at Fox News are in it too.

Screw the 'Hispanic Vote'. Or any so-called 'voting bloc'.
Someone pretty smart once said:
"The Republican Party cannot be all things to all people."
I *think* that same guy brought about the end to the 'Evil Empire'.
