CNN Ohio poll: Obama 51, Romney 47
Politico ^ | 10/9/2012 | ALEXANDER BURNS

Even after the fallout from last week's presidential debate, Barack Obama retains a 4-point lead in the state of Ohio — and pulls a majority of the vote in a poll released this afternoon by CNN.

Obama leads Romney in the state, 51 percent to 47 percent. The president has consistently led in the battleground state in credible public polling and internal surveys on both sides of the 2012 race.

The results from the CNN poll underscore the continuing challenge the Electoral College poses to Romney: while he has gained in national presidential polls, Romney has only the narrowest of paths to winning 270 electoral votes if he cannot improve his standing in Ohio. The CNN survey is the first widely trusted poll to emerge from the Buckeye State since the debate last week.

Based on the final numbers, that breakdown doesn’t make any sense.

All polls I've seen recently show independents going for Mitt in HUGE numbers, 12 to 15%.

So, if Dems and Repubs are just about even in the low-mid thirties, and they respectively give their guy the expected 90% support, what gives?

How do you get a 4% Zero edge?

This is getting tiresome. Obama won Ohio in 2008 with 51% of the vote. Unless you have the brain of a gnat, you KNOW he won’t get that in 2012. Impossible.

Well, he was here in Columbus again today. Seems like he or Biden are in Ohio at least once a week.

Also might add, I live about 15 minutes outside of Columbus in Fairfield county. We are a heavy republican county and suburban area. Today I ran a lot of errands. I must have seen at least 50 to 75 Obama signs on a three mile stretch of road/street, which is bizarre for this area. I was stunned, they were not in yards but on the roadside. This area runs past several schools, and a firehouse. I saw one Romney sign.

Thanks for the internals. On closer examination of those numbers, I'm not buying any of it: 16% of Republicans might chnage their minds? No. 19% of conservatives will vote for 0bama? No.

The only numbers that make sense are Dems and Indies. Sounds to me like a number of Dems misidentified themselves on purpose, or the pollsters did.

doesn’t Candy Eating Crowley work for CNN? Isn’t Candy Eating Crowley under pressure from the left to get “tough” on Romney because Obama is incompetent?

Remember CNN declared the Scott recall was too CLOSE TO Call according to their POlls !!!!

The race was over ten minutes after the polls closed with a Scott blow out.

Who are they trying to fool anymore !

You know, once Obama loses — here’s a suggestion: Go to Hollywood. Seriously. I think he could get a job in Hollywood as an actor — that would be a good thing for him to do — he could hang out with the Hollyweird crowd, and receive adoration forever ....just as long as he stays far, far away from any sort of political position, we’d all be good.

Seriously. I think he’d be really good at it.

It’s about 4% too heavy Ds over Rs/Is. Ought to be about 34-34-32 or something close to that.

Depressing. For any realistic chance of beating His Majesty, Romney needs to win Ohio.

Obama has led in all "credible public polling and internal surveys on both sides of the 2012 race."

In other words, any polls showing Romney ahead are not credible.

Too many gun-totting Christians in the good state of Ohio for the Kenyan to win. Ohio will just be another state that Romney carries in the blowout that’s coming in three weeks.

Yes, as a matter of fact, a number of pollsters, including CNN and PPP were not even within the margin of error at the very limit on that one (+7). There’s something wrong with their methodology. FNC is just as bad, and so is WSJ/NBC. Not just this election, but always.

“The CNN survey is the first widely trusted poll”

I literally laughed out loud at that one!! Remember how the Chinese Arnold from Happy Days used to laugh: “Bahahahahahaha, you a funny joker!”
