Obama Intelligence Director on Benghazi Criticism: ‘Enough Already’
Breitbart ^ | 10/10/12 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 10/10/2012 8:36:55 PM PDT by Nachum

James Clapper, director of National Intelligence (DNI), has come out swinging against his critics, just two weeks after his public affairs director said that US intelligence had initially labeled the attacks on our Benghazi consulate “spontaneous.”

Back on September 28, the DNI public affairs director explained, “We provided that initial assessment to Executive Branch officials and members of Congress, who used that information to discuss the attack publicly and provide updates as they became available. As we learned more ... we revised our initial assessment to reflect new information indicating that it was a deliberate and organized terrorist attack carried out by extremists.”

But today, Clapper denied that his office had done anything wrong. “The challenge is always a tactical warning, the exact insights ahead of time that such an attack is going to take place and obviously we did not have that,” he said, in particularly Clintonian language. “This gets into the mysteries versus secrets thing. If people don't behave, emit a behavior or talk or something else ahead of time to be detected, it's going to be very hard to predict an exact attack and come up with an exact attack …. I flew back to Washington, and I'm reading the media clips about the hapless, hopeless, helpless, inept, incompetent DNI, because I acknowledged publicly that we didn't instantly have that 'God's eye, God's ear' certitude about an event that I mentioned earlier. It made me want to go right back to Australia.”

His record on Wikipedia: In an interview on December 20, 2010 with Diane Sawyer of ABC News, Clapper was completely unaware that twelve alleged would-be terrorists had been arrested in Great Britain earlier in the day.[5][6]

In March 2011, Clapper was heard at the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services and commented on the 2011 Libyan civil war that “over the longer term” Gaddafi “will prevail”. This position was loudly questioned by the White House, when National Security Advisor Thomas E. Donilon qualified his statement as a “static and one-dimensional assessment” and argued that “The lost legitimacy [of Gaddafi] matters”.[8] During the same hearing he was also questioned when he neglected to list Iran and North Korea among the nuclear powers that might pose a threat to the United States.

President Obama made the official announcement on June 5, 2010 saying Clapper “possesses a quality that I value in all my advisers: a willingness to tell leaders what we need to know even if it’s not what we want to hear.” [13]

Ahem....

I think they have been well taken care of already. Their behavior makes no sense if it doesn't involve deposits into offshore accounts.

The words Obama and Intelligence don't belong on the same page.

Just after this happened I saw news report interviewing a former intelligence analyst. He said that after the "Arab Spring" they were told by higher ups that the entire area was hands off. Any threats were to be ignored. I found him believable.

Feb 2012: Clapper says it’s “technically feasible” that Tehran could produce a nuclear weapon in one or two years, if its leaders decide to build one, “but practically not likely.”

The president and secretary of state issued orders leading to the Savage death and sodomy of an american ambassador and murder of 2navy seals, at the hands of islamist terrorists armed by US taxpayer funded weapons, then the criminal mastermind administration blamed it on a youtube movie, and took the movie maker as a political prisoner during the lies and cover ups.

Enough of what, exactly? The entire US government should resign in disgrace.

I expect former members of the Obama administration to be the least useful ever to any sector after they leave the WH. Their connections will dry up quicker than any similar group in history as they go from useful to useless idiots in record time. They'll make former Clintoroids seem like the Dream Team by comparison.

He was (again) completely clueless as to what had happened earlier in the UK. After a very long pause he asked Sawyer "London?".

This guy has no business being in intelligence, not to mention commenting on this administrations bumbling of intelligence. Mark Steyn labeled this fool an "idiot", correctly.

Mr. Clap Trap fears for his job.
Issa is one pissed off chairmen at this point, having to
letup regarding the F&F tragedies.
I doubt Issa is going to let this latest miserable episode of
failure by the current administration get off easy on
this miserable failure by the State Department to protect
those on the ground in Libya from early death for serving
their country in difficult scenarios.
The shit that is now being exposed in more "broad daylight"
will dictate that the goon in the White Hut consider throwing
the SoS under the buss. Either willing or not.

Need I say more on the subject.

Dear Mr. Clapper,

As befits your office as America’s chief intelligence officer one of your many duties is very clear. When you lie, lie plausibly. Otherwise you are a very clear example of the late and not much lamented Peter Principle. That is to say, you have been promoted one level beyond your competence. In the the past when America’s top spies, e.g. James Jesus Angleton, William Casey et al., were caught in a lie, it was a lie that had run a good long time. Also, no one ever questioned the patriotism of the one who lied, only, perhaps, his judgment. You, sir, are questionable on many levels.

Yes, indeed. On that note Mr. Issa is to be commended. Many may criticize Issa for his wealth. I do not. Mr. Issa didn’t get his wealth by being stupid. I like having non-stupid people in positions of importance. It is even better when, with their non-stupidity they possess a genuine sense of right and wrong. Carry on, Mr. Issa.

I just backspaced over a really long and ingenius theory/explanation for part of what’s going on here, but out of fear of the infamous black helicopters swooping down to get me the instant I post this I will simply say: the intel community, for all its problems, WANTS the DNI as a bureaucratic good idea fairy to fail. That is just one of the sources of dysfunction that is playing out. Add personalities/egos, and Murphy to the mix of election year politics and you have a perfect storm of bad...whatever...it’s bad.
