Gee when the polar ice caps melt and sea levels rise, I hope Al Gore’s seaside California mansion is the first place to be inundated.

I would think rising seas would give us the advantage having larger ships as the channels would be deeper.

I just came back from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. I did not notice any higher water.

WEll, I'd think they'd be giddy about the excuse for needing more ships BUT ...
Humanitarian crisis? Will the waters rise in Noah-like proportions over 40 days or will the sea rise be gradual, allowing folks to simply move inland?

sounds like the only way to make flag officer is to be a spineless eunich toady (with some notable exceptions). zero tolerance for mistakes does not create leaders.

They do what they are told. When the democrats took over the house and senate, they pushed billions of dollars into the defense budget to study the military impact of global warming.
That way, they could still finance their liberal buddies and global warming alarmists, and pretend they were supporting the military.

There is no place - NOT ONE PLACE - where the oceans have risen even a half an inch. This issue is bogus. It's a unicorn issue... What will we do if unicorns eat all the crops and our children start to die of starvation? Children staving is an important issue. Drop everything - save the children...
But, but, but there are no unicorns... The oceans have no risen in 60 years. NO unicorns. None. Zero - Zip.

Ok so you live on the beach for a hundred tyears and the sealevel rises 36 inches in those one hunderd years. What do you do? (Pick One)
A) Build a seawall that is 3 feet high, but hurry, you only have a hundred years to complete the project.
B) Do nothing and drown, very, very slowly.
C) Move away from the beach to a safe area.
D) Institute global communism, and murder 2 billion people in re-education camps, until everyone understands how serious global warming is.

1. The Military routinely develops plans of all manner of contingencies. There probably is a plan somewhere for the Ethiopian invasion of Iceland.
2. Navy Times is owned by Gannett. Not exactly a bastion of clear thinking.
(All of that being said, you may be right in the Navy's, no, the Military’s preoccupation with leftist agendas.)

It will be discussed here next week:

The METOC flag officer got bit by the AGW bug and has made many speeches, policies based on sea level rise due to AGW. Path of least resistance, I guess.
