Ghost of an over-confident Al Gore will haunt smirking Vice President Joe Biden.....

Original title:Ghost of an over-confident Al Gore will haunt smirking Vice President Joe Biden who tried too hard to make up for his boss' weakness . . . and was caught fibbing about the U.S. intelligence community
------------------------
Joe Biden came out swinging at Paul Ryan, flailing wildly and landing a few punches on his own jaw as well as his opponent's.

He showed the kind of spirit and populist anger that President Barack Obama was so conspicuously lacking and has cheered up many demoralised Democrats.

But Biden's performance here in Danville, Kentucky was both comical and self-defeating. Just as Al Gore sighed and rolled his eyes in 2000, so Biden smirked and guffawed.

His brief was to show the aggression that Obama so obviously lacked when the President went up against Mitt Romney last week. But as the dust settles today many will be left feeling that he went too far, tried too hard.

Many women and swing voters will have hated his condescending, swaggering display.

Perhaps the even bigger problem the Obama campaign will have in the coming days is that Biden, again just like Gore in 2000, repeatedly exaggerated and mischaracterised for effect.

And worse than Gore - who was caught in a series of small lies in 2000 - Biden was demonstrably untruthful in some big respects.

Clint Eastwood was right, Joe Biden is truly the intellectual of the democratic party.

Vice-president Biden’s closing statement:

You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said that losing you would make me flip my lid, right?
You know you laughed
I heard you laugh, you laughed, you laughed and laughed and then you left but now you know I’m utterly mad
And, they’re coming to take me away, ha, ha
They’re coming to take me away, ho, ho, hee, hee, ha, ha
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they’re coming to take me away, ha, ha

Shots of Joe smiling. Laughing etc.

VoiceOver ( somber male voice): real unemployment at 14.7%. Food stamp dependency up 62%. National debt up 5 trillion to 16 trillion dollars. Etc.

Superimpose : Why are you laughing, Joe?

I think one mistake Biden made, was to turn off women voters, and trust me, that is big. Many undecided women tend to vote for whom they “like”, and Joe came across as unlikable last night, this will hurt them.

I could not stand to watch more than 10 minutes of it, Biden reminded me of the lefty’s I used to try and engage in serious debates. When they had no substantive comeback, they’d just give condescending smirks and laughs. At least he did not scream and go into hysterics like some do.

So in my opinion, Biden was just shoring up their base of lunatics and commies while (as the article says) turning off women and swing voters.

What this does, is put Obama on even more of the defensive. Whereas he was criticized for being timid and outmaneuvered by future-President Mitt Romney, Joey Biden tried to overcompensate and made a total ass of himself.

Now Barack Hussein Obama (mmm mmm mmm) has to "fight" (to appease his moonbat base), but also show restraint (to appease the rest of America).

I see a Romney landslide and a filibuster-proof congress for the next two years for the GOP.

What an awesome article!

This is why I loved Ryan last night.

“Whereas Ryan advocated for Romney, Biden was blowing his own trumpet.”

After blaming the intelligence community for Benghazi, Biden stated that “we will know when Iran has the bomb”. When asked how, he said “because we have the intelligence”. This was the perfect moment for Ryan to say “you mean the same intelligence you said failed you in Libya”?

It either that he was A) totally delusional, B) was in over his head and knew it, or C) he can laugh because he knows something we don’t.

(But some of us suspect.)

Biden "forgot" that he voted for both the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Claimed last night that he supported neither. What a pant-load!

Twitter: media put off by the grinning/laughing jackass Biden

Weekly Standard’s Mark Hemingway: “Joe Biden’s laughing through talking about Iran sanctions?”

Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein: “Biden’s strategy seems to be to laugh at Ryan constantly. Will it work to infantalize Ryan, or backfire like Gore sighing?”

NBC’s David Gregory: “Biden’s smile is out of control.”

BuzzFeed’s Ben Smith: “So did Biden practice laughing at Ryan???”

ABC’s Rick Klein: “Biden on verge of breaking down in laughter when Ryan talks.”

Former Eric Cantor staffer Brad Dayspring: “Joe Biden needs to realize this isn’t a Senate Foreign Relations Hearing. His laughter and condescending attitude is a disaster.”

Radio host Neal Boortz: “Looking like Biden’s gameplan is to laugh his way through this.”

Townhall.com’s Guy Benson: “Will Biden laugh his ass off at the terrible economy, too?”

MSNBC’s S.E. Cupp: “Biden needs to laugh a little less through the Libya, Middle East, nuclear Iran segment.”

Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza: “Ok. I have decided. I find the Biden smile slightly unsettling.”

PBS’ Jeff Greenfield: “Biden has always had a smile that at times is really, really inappropriate.”

Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard: “Can’t tell yet if Biden’s smirking, laughs, eye-rolling, head shaking, works for him or not against the oh-so-young looking eager Ryan.”

Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer: “Biden is at risk of having his laugh come across like Gore’s sighs. He should knock it off.”

The New York Times’ Ashley Parker: “Biden’s grin is Chesire Cat caliber.”

Republican strategist Ron Bonjean: “Biden laughing does not come off with the intended effect. It is actually hurting him. Looks very condescending.”

Movie critic Roger Ebert: “Joe! Stop smiling and laughing!”

Washington Times’ Emily Miller: “Biden laughing when he disagrees with Ryan is so annoying. Like a child in time out.”

Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin: “Biden’s laughing is losing the debate- obnoxious”

Plugs was smug.
They pumped him full of Joe’s Joker Juice before the debate.

I believe this was a planned tactic.

He wasn’t sent out to debate Ryan and win, he was sent out to prevent Ryan from scoring a big win.

They knew Joe couldn’t match Ryan in serious, factual debate so Joe’s job was to prevent Ryan from hitting his stride and coming away with debate win based on fact.

His secondary job was to frustrate Ryan and prevent him from appearing serious and knowledgeable.

In that respect, Joe acomplished his first objective but not the second. The morning after talk of the debate is more about Joe’s boorish behavior than Ryan’s professional demeanor and grasp of the issues.

But Joe overdid the mugging and interrupting to the point that this debate will find its place in history alongside the Al Gore Smirk and Stalk debate.

Not to mention that when they have the bomb, it will be too late!
