Raddatz Visited Biden at His Residence in March (Raddatz interrupted Ryan 31 times)
Weekly Standard ^ | OCT 12, 2012 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 10/12/2012 7:52:02 AM PDT by Snuph

White House records reveal that the moderator of last night's vice presidential debate, Martha Raddatz, visited Vice President Joe Biden at his official residence on March 26, 2012. Raddatz is an employee of ABC News.

As the records show, that day Raddatz visited the VPR (or, the vice president's residence) for a "Women's History Month Reception." That record was released on June 29, 2012.......

Now, after the debate, Raddatz has been criticized for "interrupting [Paul Ryan] 31 times" and even CNN called the moderator "the third debater."

It was not a work related visit...

FOX’s Brent Baier announced the ‘unofficial’ tally right after the debate. With the plethora of fact checkers ready to pounce on any statement, any ‘fact’, I would venture to say that the tally was correct.

One things for sure, Martha Raddatz will sit at the head table at this years press correspondents dinner...while Jim Lerher gets a milk crate in the kitchen.

We all do networking events in our professional lives. For a reporter to get invited to an event where the VP is present; would be a no brainer for her not to go.

Doesn't matter if it's a charity event for abandoned chipmunks. If the right people are there; you go.

It's the job of the press to be critical of the administration and keep an eye on what they do. The press is essentially a private regulator. It is a problem if a regulator interacts socially with the people they are supposed to regulate.

If you lived close to a nuclear reactor, would you want the regulator in charge of monitoring core safety going to cocktail parties and yukking it up with the guys who run the reactor?

He did have time to open his mouth but not to complete a sentence. He was never afforded the courtesy of being permitted to complete a thought until his closing statement. What a sham! And even still...a moajority of those polled still say Ryan won! Class and sincerity trump b.s. and borish rudeness every time.

“The press is essentially a private regulator. “

I don't see it that way; I don't trust them to regulate anything!!
I think that is giving them too much credit and power.

The press is granted special protection in the Constitution. The protection is granted because the job of the press is to ask questions to power. It’s much harder to be critical of a friend than an adversary.

It would be nice to see a comparison of how many times Biden was interrupted.

And also nice to have a tally of how much time that Ryan was talking was drowned out by Biden and/or Raddatz also talking. And a comparison of the same for Biden.

Martha Myrna Raddatz born February 14, 1953

Not a heck of a lot older than me but she looks twice my age.

From another post:

Let me do a little math.

Biden Interruptions = 81.
Radditz Interuptions = 31.
Total Interruptions of Ryan = 112.
Total minutes = 90.
Total seconds = 5400.
Half that time was “Ryan Time” or 2700 seconds.

Average time between “Ryan Time” Interruptions = 24 seconds

In fact, Ryan actually only had 40 minutes so that earlier calculation should be adjusted down to 21 seconds between interruptions.

So true - however, why in God's name do the Republican's, every cycle, allow these moderators to moderate?

I've been asking that question for months.
