The terrifying world of child brides
UK Daily Mail ^ | 10/12/12 | Snejana Farberov

At age 11, Ghulam was married off to 40-year-old Jaiz in a rural Afghan village, making her only one of more than 10 million young girls who are being forced to wed men old enough to be their fathers or grandfather every year. In an effort to start a global conversation about the devastating effects of early marriages, which are currently practiced in more than 50 developing countries, the United Nations designated October 11 as International Day of the Girl Child this year. To mark the occasion and draw attention to the problem of child brides, photojournalist Stephanie Sinclair teamed up with National Geographic to create a series of heart-breaking photos depicting girls as young as five years old being married off to middle-aged men in countries like India, Yemen and Ethiopia.

Imagine the pent-up desire to be done with the brutal slavery that is islam, at least from the enslaved half of that population.

When the evil machine finally totters and falls, the enslaved women will rejoice.

In Islam, they practice genital mutilation and arrange marriages between young girls and older men. In the West, they slaughter babies by the millions in the name of women's rights.

Both cultures are barbaric. I opt out of both.

I have a feeling that it is the Islamic women who like the system the most. The polygamous aspect ensures that even the most unattractive women will get a husband. Plus women seem to tingle for the aggressive "bad boys" that Islam produces in large quantities.

all societies that treat females as property are backward, stoneage, violent....

its always been that way, when half the population is enslaved at the other halfs bidding....

maybe this is the law of the jungle.....one older stronger male gets all the females and the younger ones just make believe with other males...
