Report: More trouble for Jackson Jr.

By SEUNG MIN KIM | 10/12/12 5:12 PM EDT

Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Ill.) – gone from Congress since June on a medical leave of absence – is now facing a new federal investigation into “suspicious activity” in his finances, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

According to the Sun-Times, federal investigators are looking into Jackson’s finances surrounding his House seat and the “possibility of inappropriate expenditures." This latest probe doesn’t involve the ethical troubles that had been surrounding Jackson in connection with allegations that he used official resources to try and win appointment to President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat, the Sun-Times reported.

The investigation had been active before Jackson took a formal leave of absence on June 10, according to the newspaper. Jackson’s office did not publicly disclose the lawmaker’s leave of absence until two weeks later.

A Jackson spokesman told the Sun-Times that he was not aware of any investigation. Another top aide to Jackson did not return an e-mail from POLITICO seeking comment.

Jackson’s aides said in late June that he had taken a leave of absence but did not disclose why. Later, his staff revealed that Jackson was being treated at the Mayo Clinic for bipolar disorder.

He has since left the Rochester, Minn., clinic and returned to Washington, D.C., but has given no indication when he would return to work on Capitol Hill.

All he has to do is say he erred and donate something to charity and all is forgiven

Politics aside, it drives a bit nuts when an elected official gets sick, or goes to rehab, or whatever, for an extended period of time and doesn’t resign. They’re not doing their job (representing their constituency) when they’re in a clinic.

I guess it’s a pet peeve of mine that someone should actually do the job for which they’re being paid.

Hey—I’m okay if he NEVER comes back. Poor baby—he’s probably got enough money by now to retire to the good life.

He failed to pay off the proper person, or to conduct a really loud, raceCentric protest; if the nads don’t fit, you might have to quit.

I've seen it written...recently...that there's a book in the works which details a conspiracy involving Blago,JJ Jr and Osama Obama himself regarding the sale of Osama’s US Senate seat..That’ll sure bring on an acute attack of “bipolar” in Junior *and* Osama.

He saw it coming and called in sick to put it on hold.

Just for the record.
JJ biological father was Noah Robinson
Michelle Robinson Obama spent enough time in JJ’s home to be call Sis by the siblings.
Both families came from the same Friends Plantation area of the Carolinas.
JJ’s half brother Noah Robinson was a leader of El Rukn a street gang whose primary crimes were male/female prostitution, drugs, murder for hire. (He’s currently doing life for his activities with the gang)
FerretCON converted the entire gang to Islam.
BhO territory to organize overlaps El Rukn’s territory.

The Senate seat went to Bu...Who was receiving 5,000/month from Loop Enterprises. Loop Enterprises was partly owned by Craig Robinson, MO’s bro. Loop was named as part of a pay to play activity in Philly, Didn’t go to court because one of the star witnesses died.....

And So It goes. ......

Yup.

It also drives me nuts when they run for another office without resigning their current office.

Did they even run a ‘challenger’ to his seat?
Or is he running unopposed?
He should not have ‘won’ the “D” nomination since he was/is incapacitated for an undetermined time.

Of course, who am I to Judge?
I believe if you have to leave your job for any extended time ‘ Congressman or Senator ‘ running for Pres or VP or extended hospital stay etc you are NOT serving your constituents by not actively doing your job and you should resign your seat once you accept the nomination.

At least Bob Dole had the ‘decency’ to do that.

Also, when a sitting Gov, Cong, Sen is chairman of the RNC or DNC they can’t be giving full time and attention to either job.

Is there a plea in the works?

“The probe was active in the weeks prior to Jackson taking a leave from his U.S. House post on June 10”
