The decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union has divided the Continent. While European leaders in Brussels and national capitals are basking in the glow provided by the unexpected honor, euroskeptics in the EU have unleashed their contempt for the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
In Britain, Friday's award has been the subject of particularly heated commentary. Iain Martin, a columnist with the conservative Daily Telegraph, dismissed the prize as "beyond parody." He writes that the prize has been awarded prematurely because "we have no idea how the experiment to create an anti-democratic federation will end." Besides, he writes, "daftest of all is the notion that the EU itself has kept the peace." Instead, he writes, it was the Brits and the Americans who brought peace to the Continent.
Members of the House of Commons with the conservative Tories described the decision as "laughable" and an "April Fool's Joke." …

The Nobel “Peace” prize is a joke. Nobody cares who the hell gets it anymore. It’s just an award commies give to other commies. Kind of like the Oscars.
Wow, what killjoys. They saw through that one pretty fast, but it would have been more fun if they had played along for a couple years or so before they spilled the beans.
I'm hoping they'll consider my unborn grandson for the prize. Sure, my daughter doesn't have any kids yet, but that's not a problem is it??
The Nobel people missed another great opportunity to give it to Obama again. Without Obama, WWIII would have broken out, but, thanks to that Nobel Peace prize he got 4 years ago, Obama has kept the world from going to war. Nobody wanted to make Obama and the committed look bad, so, the world behaved.
So, in order for Obama to work his magic for another 4 years, the committed should take it back, and give it to Obama, where it rightfully belongs. Now, without that peace prize, Obama might even lose the election, and the world will go to hell.
But, if not Obama, and with the EU not deserving of it, perhaps the next best candidate should be, Ahmadinejad. After all, Ahmadinejad hasn’t destroyed Israel yet, and might not do it this year with a Noble Peace prize staring him in the face.
Well, they’ve out done themselves. I thought the bribe to the Food Stamp President was about as dumb as they could get and as low as they could go, but they pulled a Slow Joe to out do themselves. The Nobel Peace Prize has become a label on the recipient - LOSER!
Hey, it’s nothing to laugh at, you get a free Nobel Prize with every oil change in Texas!!
