Mitt Romney holds 8 higher education degrees" bachelors, masters, 6 doctorates. What do we know about President Obama? He surrendered his law license in 2008 and all his educational transcripts are under seal so that no one can learn about who he is.

What an amazing difference between Mitt Romney and President Obama. The differences are so stark and obvious. Is it any wonder Romney crushed Obama in the debates?

“The normal time required to earn an MBA at Harvard Business School is two years; Romney spent four years earning his MBA. The normal time required to earn a JD at Harvard Law School is three years; Romney spent four years earning his JD.”

Just to be clear...it took Romney 4 years to earn BOTH his JD and MBA and he had to be accepted to both programs independent of one another to be admitted to the joint degree program. The program cuts a year off the normal 5-year plan.

"The program cuts a year off the normal 5-year plan."

Yes. The program also cuts a year's worth of classes off the normal five-year plan by giving joint credit toward both the JD and MBA for certain single classes.

The joint program is impressive. The fact that Romney was chosen as one of only seven students to participate in it the first year it existed is impressive. However, if people think it means he was handling a normal B School load and a normal law school load at the same time - he wasn't.

Call it a nit. Clearly saying he earned degrees from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School 'simultaneously' sounds a lot better than 'he earned both his MBA and JD at Harvard through a joint degree program, as have hundreds of people."

Did you even read through the article. Romeny holdes an “earned” ph.d in law.

You are clueless about what a J.D. is. It is NOT a Ph.D. or equivalent. Not even on the level of a Master's degree. It is the first qualifying - read lowest - law degree.

It was only after 1962 that a new push—this time begun at less-prominent law schools—successfully led to the universal adoption of the J.D. as the first law degree.(wikipedia)

The J.D. is the bachelor-equivalent degree for lawyers. Those that strive for higher honors obtain an L.L.M = Master's degree.

So after subtracting the (academically) worthless honorary degrees, what is left is that Romney graduated law school - just like Obummer.

That said, I have little doubt that Romney is academically and intellectually more capable than Obummer could ever hope to be. But your post is just silly.

You are totally clueless and miss the whole point. Not surprising for a wannabe!

Thank you for your well thought-out response. You even managed to address the various points of fact I raised. Oh, wait...you didn't.

But at least I now know where to place any future posts from that blog you write for...

Perhaps now would be a good time to ask your mommy for your pacifier and to tuck you into bed.

How many lawyers actually give up a hard won law degree voluntarily for those reasons after all the years of college it takes to obtain one?

It's not giving up the degree. It's suspending the licence to practice to avoid the fees and mandatory continuing education classes.

Presumably, if they decide to practice again, they can pay fees and take classes, but it doesn't make much sense to do that now if they anticipate not practicing law for some time.

And actually a lot of people with law degrees do move to inactive status -- or leave the profession entirely.

Yes, Romney compared to Clinton, Edwards, Kerry, Obama, all the left in the last 20 years, is quite refreshing.

Not only that but he is not hiding his academic record. It is there for all to see.
