Random Thoughts

Random thoughts on the passing scene:

Not since the days of slavery have there been so many people who feel entitled to what other people have produced as there are in the modern welfare state, whether in Western Europe or on this side of the Atlantic.

Economist Edward Lazear has cut through all of Barack Obama's claims about "creating jobs" with one plain and inescapable fact — "there hasn't been one day during the entire Obama presidency when as many Americans were working as on the day President Bush left office." Whatever number of jobs were created during the Obama administration, more have been lost.

How are children supposed to learn to act like adults, when so much of what they see on television shows adults acting like children?

The know-it-all smirks and condescending laughs of Vice President Joe Biden, when Congressman Paul Ryan was speaking during their debate, were a little much from an administration presiding over economic woes at home and disasters overseas — and being caught in lies about both. Like Barack Obama, Joe Biden has all the clever tricks of a politician and none of the wisdom of a statesman.

If you truly believe in the brotherhood of man, then you must believe that blacks are just as capable of being racists as whites are.

One of the most foolish, and most dangerous, things one can do is to take love for granted, instead of nurturing it and safeguarding it as the prize jewel of one's life.

Whenever you hear people talking about "a living Constitution," almost invariably they are people who are in the process of slowly killing it by "interpreting" its restrictions on government out of existence.

Do either Barack Obama or his followers have any idea how many countries during the 20th century set out to "spread the wealth" — and ended up spreading poverty instead? At some point, you have to turn from rhetoric, theories and ideologies to facts.

All a voter needs to know.

Exactly, and that's the first time I've seen anyone say it.

This man wears the mantle of wisdom with a grace and humility most rare among humankind. It is no wonder the democrats and political elite hold him in such contempt. Would that We The People could pay closer attention to his wise offerings gleaned from his unique perspective.

” It is no wonder the democrats and political elite hold him in such contempt.”

The left held WFB in contempt, but only a couple of them would debate him. Those who did were murdered.

The left held William Rusher in contempt, and in debates he crushed them all.

Has anyone ever offered to debate Sowell ?

There is video of Sowell crushing Bill Clinton (before clinton became president), to such a degree that clinton resorted to the typical democrat ploy, he lie through his teeth, boldly.

Do either Barack Obama or his followers have any idea how many countries during the 20th century set out to "spread the wealth" — and ended up spreading poverty instead?

This is something I see a lot about our politicians. Regardless of the political ideology, for some reason, OUR politicians think they can make policies that failed many times elsewhere, work here!!

This is not only collective stupidity, it is arrogance of the highest order.

The Founders were intelligent, thoughtful men who gave us a system that has been the envy of the rest of the world and, yet, we keep electing people who think they can do better. Perhaps we need to elect people who might come close to doing almost as good as what the Founders created instead of morons who don't appreciate the elegance, simplicity and brilliance of the Constitution.

If someone has I'm not aware of it. The left seem content to just ignore him, they probably realize they're outclassed.

I have an ongoing Google alert for him and there are letters to the editor, mostly name calling that show the lack of reality and knowledge on the writers part, who belittle Dr. Sowell (or at least try to).

You're correct but sadly a good portion of the electorate are going to keep electing Reps that promise to give what deadbeats want.

It really is pathetic so many elected people keep trying the same things over and over that haven't worked and never will work.

What else could Bill do?

The following link is to video of a Sowel speech made during the clinton first four years, in which Dr. Sowell peels off the layers of deceit which democrats use to promote their government dependency programs. This particualr video is interesting because it displays such presceince! Less than halfway through, Dr. Sowell mentions the life expectancy of Mormons as comparexd to typical white Americans ... democrat heads should explode as they watch Dr. Sowel dismantle the notions of democrat oligarchical rule:

Sad to say, both quotes are true.
