Lima, Peru (CNN) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the buck stops with her when it comes to who is to blame for security ahead of a deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.

"I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru, for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, was the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions.

"I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha," she added, noting that it is close to the election.

The attack killed Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans at the consulate

Hellry was personally mentored by Saul Alinsky and describes herself as a “progressive” - i.e. a communist.

I don’t know. To me, Hillary seems very intimidated by Obama, and has been so ever since she became SOS. When you see them together, you can tell that she’s afraid of him.

I have always thought that people on FR gave Hillary way to much credit in the first place, since she has never done anything in her entire life except be Bill’s wife and ride into some dubious sort of power by ignoring his personal life and probably doing some behind the scenes dirty work for him.

I think this is all being orchestrated by Bill Clinton. But the question is what is making Bill Clinton to it. Obama is doing so badly he has had to reach out to him and Bill Clinton has come through, even though Clinton clearly hates Obama. Is it just that Clinton is desperate for the Dems to hang onto power and has given up on the ability of Obama to get reelected without help from him? Or is there something Obama has offered to Bill that he really wants?

It’s all very mystifying, and strangely enough, I think it’s backfiring and is making Obama look even more foolish and confused and underhanded.

Why are the posters at DU clapping and praising her for this? “Class act”? Hillary lied about everything and still keeps going?

The President is NOT involved in security decisions?? Are you kidding me?? Romney needs to raise the question of just what decisions IS the President involved in? When would a crisis like people throwing IED’s into an embassy, rise to a level that would draw him from the golf course?

IMHO, this is just the latest lie in a string of lies intended to deflect blame from the Empty Chair. It won't work. Obama’s fault is either gross stupidity or gross negligence.

"Hillary Clinton: "I Take Responsibility" For Benghazi (But It Was An Underling's Fault)"

"...She says "I am responsible" for the security of State's 60,000 workers, but then says she's not responsible at all:

"The decision about security aspects are made by security professionals."

...Okay, Ms. Clinton: What are the names of these "security professionals" you say made this decision? Forgive my suspicions, but I'd like to ask them for their side of the story.

I'd also like documentary evidence for all of these claims."

“0bama COVERED UP THE FACT THAT STEVENS WAS KILLED BY TERRORISTS IN A TERRORIST ATTACK....”

Yelling while stating the obvious (especially at someone on the same team) just makes you look unhinged and lacking self-control. If this is how you convince others to vote conservative, please stop. You’re hurting our cause.

If Romney really lays into Obama on this issue, I can see the MSM spinning it as Romney is, by extension, attacking Hillary (since she's the one who took responsibility).

Then they can go with the meme that Romney hates women.

I'm not suggesting Romney tap-dance around the issue. Just that he needs to be careful how he presents it, since the Obama lackeys in the media will look for any opportunity to pounce and help Obama score political points.

Rush’s opening monologue was brilliant and required listening for anyone who either didn’t live through or has forgotten the Clintonian 90’s.

In true Clinton fashion, Hillary took the responsibility but not the blame.

Rush then proceeded to present a primer of Hillary’s crimes and misdeeds from the beginning right on through. Remember Billy Dale, just for one?

I don't think so. Too many will be soothed by Hillary's taking responsibility, which is essentially a diversion from the real issues which is 0bama's comments following the attack and the other question, "Why was Stevens there on 9/11 if security wasn't?". Mitt needs to remind America that this is a pattern with this regime. Calling the Ft. Hood shooting 'workplace violence' is another example of 0bama's diversion from truth.

0bama stacks lies upon lies in an attempt to bury the obvious. Romney needs to expose this pattern, evident during 'Fast & Furious' too.

With Hillary and the Huma connection, and the way Obama has abandoned any sense of being an American and helping AMerican interests, I still think it is bigger than a Democrat power struggle or feud. Having said that, I can see Bill attempting to get to the top of whatever power could be orchestrating all this. I do agree Hillary does wilt in the presence of Obama. You never saw this with any conservative she was up against.

“...Hillary’s taking responsibility...is essentially a diversion from the real issues...”

We agree. Romney has a chance to bypass the media tonight. We’ll see what he does soon enough.
