Rand Paul Is Launching A New Ad Campaign To Help Todd Akin (Mo Senate Race on fire for Akin)

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is wading into the nation's most incendiary Senate race this week, with the launch of a new statewide, six-figure ad campaign to help Missouri Republican Todd Akin.

Business Insider has learned that Paul's political action committee, RANDPAC, will go on air Wednesday with a new ad attacking Akin's opponent, Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill, for her vote against Paul's amendment to block U.S. aid to Pakistan, Egypt, and Libya.

"Claire McCaskill works with Barack Obama to send our money overseas to radicals who attack our embassies, burn our flag, and kill our diplomats," the narrator says. "What would you do? It's time to bring our taxpayer dollars home and send Claire McCaskill home, too."

Although the ad does not mention Akin by name, it represents Paul's strongest public endorsement of the embattled Missouri Republican, who became persona non grata with the Republican Establishment after his mid-summer gaffe suggesting that women could not get pregnant from "legitimate rape."

In the wake of those comments, GOP leaders abandoned Akin en masse, pulling funding for his campaign and calling on him to step aside in his race to unseat McCaskill. But Akin has held on in the polls, framing his race as a grassroots fight against the GOP Establishment. A new poll from the Republican firm Wenzel Strategies shows Akin leading McCaskill by four points, 49 percent to 45 percent.

Now Paul joins South Carolina Senator and fellow Tea Party favorite Jim DeMint in breaking with Republican leadership and coming out to materially support Akin. Paul appears to be the only sitting Senator to have put up ads supporting Akin's campaign.

Very good. Is it possible the GOP is clandestinely funding Akin, using people like Rand Paul and others as surrogates?

I for one would certainly hope not. If that is the case then that would likely leave Akin beholding to the corrupt Republican Party insiders should he win. America would be better served if Akin is free to represent the (conservative) people of America and not the liberal inside the Washington rusted-beltway RNC insiders, IMHO.

Not at all responsive to what I said - and you didn’t respond, because you can’t. Everything I said was absolutely, 100%, correct, and irrefutable...hence why you did not refute it.

The media did not set the stage - Akin set the stage.

None of your examples, even assuming they are all accurate, are comparable to a gaffe about a subject like rape which seemingly trivialized the issue. You have made no credible comparison.

I really had my doubts about Rand Paul.

He has answered them.

Sorry, I disagree with you and I disagree with the way the Republican Party handled it. I mean they created a map of every candidate running and in MO...the NRSC only listed McCaskill. It was if she was running unopposed.
Akin apologized and it was Akin and Ryan that wrote a pro life legislation. The GOP did not turn its back on Rove or refuse his assistance after his murder comment. Granted he is not running for office but he is prominent in the gop
Also, I stand by my assertion that numerous and horrific gaffes have been made by other candidates that rate pretty high up there.

If I knew he didn't even live in MO...I would not have bothered with a response. I agree on the credibility..it is either McCaskill or Akin and we know what a mistake 6 yrs of Claire McCaskill who voted with Obama 98% of the time means. It is the fault of the rinos that hold a grudge against Akin for bucking Bush and them.

I missed it. After the 2010 campaign, Frank Luntz brought on Rep’s and Dem’s (separately), who produced the high scoring commercials. Rand Paul had the highest scoring commercial period. Rand Paul is producing for the GOP. Where’s Boehner? Where’s most of the rest of the gang? Losers.
