CONCORD A new, independent poll has President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney tied in New Hampshire, each with 47 percent support, as the two candidates prepare for their second of three debates Tuesday night.
The Oct. 12-15 poll of 500 likely voters from Suffolk University was carried out after Romneys strong performance in the first debate.
Pollster David Paleologos said a troubling sign for the President is his job approval rating remains at 47 percent three weeks before the Nov. 6 election.

Those 6% undecided will go for Romney. 53-47.
Ah-yup!
47%?
That’s ironic.
This is great news but I’m not greedy. Give Romney 3% of those undecideds. Give Obama and 3rd party candidates the rest. The Kenyan is heading to NH after the debate to try to stop the bleeding. Good for him. Romney needs to keep his eye on the bigger state ball: Ohio, Pa, Michigan, and Iowa. All of those are winnable. Let Obama waste his valuable time in NH, NC, Va, and Florida. Good luck in those states, Barry.
Just heard that Obama is flying to NH after the debate..
We know which 47% went for Obama.
After Obama’s performance as president, and his performance in the first debate, it is a disgrace to the nation that it is not 98%R, 2%O
The ‘thrill’ of 2008 is gone. Landslide Romney/Ryan.
I agree...landslide coming.
The poll I’d like to see taken is one of Illinois. The last one on RCP was in early September, was of Registered Voters, and was done when the pollsters were biasing samples heavily toward Democrats to reflect the 2008 results. Yet, Obama was only ahead by 13 points and was under the 50% level (47-34).
It would be interesting to see just how strong he remains following the debates and the Libyan debacle that’s still unfolding. Meanwhile RCP has it listed as Strong Obama.
Romney doesn’t need OH, PA or MI if he wins IA, NH, CO, NV, FL, VA and NC.
“Romney doesnt need OH, PA or MI if he wins IA, NH, CO, NV, FL, VA and NC.”
Absolutely. And I don’t care how he wins the presidency, as long as he wins it. But he will win OH, Pa., and MI. Keep watching.
