During the vice presidential debate last week, Vice President Joe Biden seemed to significantly overstate his role in the 1983 negotiations over Social Security.
Asked about Medicare reform, the vice president said, Look, I was there when we did that with Social Security in 1983. I was one of eight people sitting in the room that included Tip ONeill negotiating with President Reagan."
But according to the historical record, Biden was not one of the small group of people in the room, or in the meeting nor was he even a key player in reforms.
The vice presidents office issued a statement suggesting that the vice president at the debate was not saying he was a key player, merely that he played a role and met with ONeill, and that the bipartisan nature of the negotiations was crucial.

Who was the cruel person that decided Biden should stop taking his meds a week prior to the debate?
We have Hillary Clinton claim she was named after a famous mountain climber who had not yet climbed the mountain to his fame;
We have Obama claiming something about being the product of a meeting at the Selma Alabama civil rights march that was actually several years off from his admitted birthdate;
We have Biden claiming this; and the last election claiming to have just been to a restaurant that had been closed for a decade or two;
and we had Biden pretending hw didn't vote for wars he blames everyone else for. It's like Reagan said, they just believe in so much that isn't so.
It was his usual sedative in suppository form.
When the nurse gave it to him he said, "For all the good these things do, I might as well shove them up my ass."
Don’t forget BJ Clinton’s stark memories of non existent burning churches and Algore’s infant union song lullaby that was written when he was 27 years old.
One heartbeat away from the presidency. God save the Republic!
Biden also claimed to have played college football. And then there was Bill Richardson who claimed he had been drafted by the Kansas City A’s.
lol, that’s right, forgot about those whoppers
The same "tutor" who compared American soldiers to Genghis Khan.
That's totally believable.
He could be the poster boy for multi-concussion syndrome.
