The Hofstra Debate Through the Eyes of the Pundits
Slate ^ | October 17, 2012 | Daniel Politi

Before the second presidential debate kicked off, the conventional wisdom among many political pundits was that the town hall format did not lend itself well to political attacks. Boy, were they proved wrong.

The second match-up between President Obama and Mitt Romney was red meat for political junkies and partisans alike as the two candidates almost seemed to play out an episode of Slate’s Political Kombat onstage. Undecided voters? Eh, they probably weren’t fans. They hate squabbles after all.

The paid liars and Democrat operatives in the MSM call themselves "pundits". I have never heard any normal person use that term. To no ones surprise they have declared that Obama "won" the so called "debate". I literally could not watch it. The lies, the continual interruptions and the obviously biased moderater were too much for any reasonable person to take.

These are not debates. These are opportunities for the pathetic MSM liars who have lost their readership, their viewership and their credibility to act important. To no ones surprise they ignored the reality, declared Obama the winner and then pontificated about what this meant.

The VP debate was idiotic but at least watching Biden act weird and obnoxious while lying was a little bit amusing. This debate was an claasic Orwellian nightmare. It featured obvious lies repeated with an earnestness and authority that has not been seen except in communist dictatorships.

Why can’t the RNC choose at least ONE of the debate locations and moderator - like FOX News with Ann Coulter moderating??

I suspect the thought was that the gain from winning or a draw in the CNN snakepit carries more weight than if the debate was moderated by a conservative/moderate.

The post debate coverage and anti Crowley carrying on turns out to be more valuable than an innocuous venue with no such blatant bias.

That is, the perception of unfairness may be more valuable than an even or conservative tilted field.

The other fact we don’t know is if Fox was asked and if so, what were their terms?

You are right. I am just tired of seeing Romney surrounded by enemies. He still won but my blood pressure soared!

Thanks for the link to that article--it was excellent!

Best thing was it said that Obama got what he already had--but Romney scored with the independents with his litany of Obama's non-achievements.

I caught only the last part of the debate, and was SO bummed--thought Romney did really bad. Until I saw Luntz's focus group on Fox--WOW! They were SO down on Obama, including the guy who said the 0 "had been "b..s..ing us" for four years!

That, and--FINALLY--being able to log onto FR really made me feel better about Romney's performance.

Romney IS the grown-up in the room, and Crowely came across as the uncool teenage girl who desperately wanted Obama to ask her to the prom!

I forced myself to watch the whole thing ..... I thought Romney did extremely well, especially on the economy and the 'how are you different from Bush' ... wow, he really thinks quick on his feet and he DID answer the question, but in such a classy way - I really respect him for that. THEN, like you, I saw the Luntz group and was blown away by their reaction! I am so heartened and the guy who made the BS comment - he got general agreement from the group - he actually acknowledged and called out the 'elephant' in the room ... Obama's relentless BS. I am "doing great" today because when I hear the media spin, I just think about the Luntz group (which validated my gut feeling) and I think Romney, in retrospect, will be considered the big winner last night and I am more than hopeful it will translate to a win Nov. 6. ☺
