John Kerry on presidential debate prep: I need ‘exorcism’ to be rid of Mitt Romney By: Kevin Robillard October 17, 2012 08:20 AM EDT

Sen. John Kerry joked Wednesday that he’ll need an “exorcism” after the final debate next week to purge Mitt Romney after playing the GOP presidential nominee for weeks in debate prep with President Barack Obama.

“It’s been an interesting exercise,” Kerry said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I’ve decided next Tuesday I’ve got to have an exorcism of Romney out of my being.”

Meanwhile, Kerry, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, defended the administration’s handling of the attack in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, and called Romney’s reaction “not presidential.”

“You don’t play games with national security,” Kerry said. “Before anybody knew the facts, Mitt Romney was politicizing this issue, and that is not presidential — you don’t do that if you’re running for president. You get the facts. He criticized this administration, accused them of creating this event, before he even knew what this event was. That’s not presidential. That’s not the leadership we need.”

being a rich (5 times as rich as Romney) gigolo...

Do you really believe Teresa doesn't have a pre-nup? His wealth is conditioned on his behavior. If he gets kicked out of office, she might have to find herself another Senator.

“You don’t play games with national security,”

That might be what comes back to bite your party into oblivion for years if the rumors running around Washington about what Libya was about are exposed and prosecuted.

If republicans win and go on a fact exposing and prosecution run instead of sweeping dem corruption under the rug run like they always have....

If I was a dem in power at the moment I would be terrified, because that really is the only option left for republicans and the American people to deal with how corrupt the dem party has become if they want to save America.

Let us face it...there is no law for dems and if it is allowed to continue then the next time they are in power they will never leave.

He nervously laughed, shook his head, and my friends, fearing I would get further in his face, pulled me away by my shoulders!

An “exorcism” is a good way to describe what’s going to happen on Nov 7, 2012.

I seriously doubt Kerry could do an even halfway decent job of playing Mitt (or most any other person) in debate prep. He is a one trick elitist pony. He doesn’t have the quickness of wit nor brain power to be able to emulate what Romney is able to do in these campaigns.

I am a begrudging Romney support now, but I do not in any way question his intellect, his communication skills, nor his ability to adapt in these debates. He’s been great. Kerry is Kerry. I am sure his weak debate prep role contributed greatly to the first debate failure...and Obama last night just spit out the usual campaign rhetoric...he was able to do it a little better this time because he had experienced going head to head two weeks ago.

Kerry is a non-factor in this whole debate charade.

Is Kerry still senator? I don't know. Haven't been paying attention.

If he is still senator, then maybe he should keep that "exorsizable" spirit of Governor Romney and start voting smarter.

The Democrats keep spreading the idea that Romney's comment on 9/11 was about the attack in Benghazi. It wasn't--it was in reaction to the administration's wimpy reaction to the demonstration in Cairo, which happened earlier the same day.

I don't know if it really makes a difference in how the public perceives the whole Libya issue, and the Democrats lie about everything all the time anyway...but maybe someone should be setting the record straight.

I think you’re absolutely right in that they will try to destroy him both politically and personally. However, I believe we’ll see a different response then we did during Bush’s two terms. I don’t see Romney staying above the fray and refusing to respond to the ad hominem attacks. That method may work for W in the (very)long run, but in the short term it destroyed his popularity. Romney knows how to give as good as he gets and manages to get under an opponents skin.
