Report: Military voters in four states not receiving absentee ballots

Jurisdictions in at least four states - Vermont, Michigan, Mississippi and Wisconsin - failed to send absentee ballots to members of the military by the required September 22 deadline, Breitbart.com reported Monday.

Republican lawmakers sent a letter to the Departments of Justice and Defense demanding assurances that the rights of military personnel and overseas citizens who vote absentee will be protected in the November elections after learning the states failed to mail the ballots by the deadline, the Army Times said.

“We are concerned that, absent prompt and effective remedial action, some men and women in uniform will be deprived of the 45-day window to vote guaranteed by the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act," wrote Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Daniel E. Lungren (R-CA), chairman of the House Administration Committee and Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

"While implementation and enforcement of the MOVE Act appear on course as an improvement over the poor performance we saw in the 2010 elections, we are concerned about the currently reported shortcomings. If any element of local, state or federal government does not abide by the MOVE Act, the result should not ever be the disenfranchisement of any member of the armed services,” they wrote.

According to the Times, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the state of Vermont, alleging the state violated the law.

Congratulations to our Democratic Party friends. They are on the road to disenfranchising the US Military and replacing those votes with the Illegal Alien and felon vote.
The only task left for the big ‘O’s second term will be
euthanasia of people the Dems want killed.

Obama’s DoD at Work: Military Absentee Ballot Requests Drop by Over 90% in Some States

Requests from military voters for absentee ballots have dropped significantly since 2008, according to newly released statistics, prompting claims that the Department of Defense is dragging its feet in enacting a law meant to boost military voting.

The drop in the battleground states of Virginia and Ohio is among the most pronounced. According to statistics released Monday by The Military Voter Protection Project, the number of absentee ballot requests by both military members and other overseas voters in the two states has dropped 70 percent since 2008.

Virginia had nearly 42,000 total requests in 2008, compared with a little more than 12,000 this year, according to the MVP Project. Ohio had more than 32,000 in 2008, compared with 9,700 this year. The number of military voters specifically — as opposed to military and overseas voters — was not broken down in the latest set of statistics, but military-only numbers released by the MVP Project in August documented a similar drop-off in applications.

At the time, military ballot requests in Virginia were down 92 percent. Several other states showed a precipitous drop since 2008, including Alabama, North Carolina and Florida.

Clinton did the same thing to get reelected. He refereed to it as a "clerical error." The media, of course, never bothered to make a big deal about him doing it, either.

Now, if a Republican president failed to mail out absentee ballots to welfare counties, the MSM would have a coronary! Those are democrat voters!

Romney and company need to make this into an ad and buy the airtime to really let the people running the elections process in those states get clobbered with it and slime Obozo and his justice department in the process.......

RE: Clinton did the same thing to get reelected.

Would the Military vote have MATTERED in 1996?

Dole was beaten badly 49-41 (with Perot at 8.4%).

Clinton won 379 electoral votes with Dole at 159.

Our military has communications equipment secure enough to issue launch orders for nuclear launches. The only reason for our military to not be able to vote electronically, is because there are those who would prefer the votes of military members to go uncast, or barring that, uncounted.

These state officials and bureaucrats are breaking federal law.

They should be charged and prosecuted to the full extent of that law.

Rudy Giuliani for Attorney General! The guy that took down the NY mob is the perfect choice to prosecute the whole mess of corrupt officials and bureaucrats that have plundered the federal budget for the last four years.

These wouldn't happen to be states where the elections official is a Soros puppet would they?

Michigan's Ruth Johnson actively ran against George Soros. She's been cracking the whip to get the military ballots taken care of for a while now and has ordered an extension of the deadline to get them counted.

I know its not what the echo chamber likes to hear but ballot problems aren't always an attempt to commit fraud. In fact many of the places listed in Michigan are rock solid conservative little towns. My township had one soldier they couldn't track down till he walked into the township office. Things like court challenges hold up ballot printing till the last minute.

All that Big Ears has to do is file an EO deleting the military vote. Whoever opposes such action will their suit sent to the leftist appointed judges & they will stand up for the left. Why not, this is a banana republic.
