WASHINGTON, D.C., October 18, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) - Critics of CNN moderator Candy Crowley’s performance in the second presidential debate Tuesday night claim that it is part of a larger pattern that sees Democrats consistently receiving more time to speak, being interrupted less often, and being asked fewer probing questions than their Republican challengers.
Republicans have cried foul after Crowley wrongly corrected Mitt Romney’s statement that Barack Obama did not refer to the assault on the Libyan embassy as an act of terrorism. A transcript indicates Obama did use the term “act of terror” the day after the attack, but in reference to 9/11, not Benghazi.
“I’ve never seen a moderator in a major debate interfere with the two people and take one side and indicate the other one was not telling the truth,” said Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-OK. “I think it was orchestrated.”
“Did the president willfully lie, and was that a set-up deal with Crowley?” Senator Inhofe asked.
Shortly after the debate, Crowley admitted that Mitt Romney was “right in the main.” Later Wednesday, she stepped back, denying that she had acted inappropriately, adding she didn’t think her statement was “a leap.”
The incorrect correction broke Romney’s momentum on what should have been his strongest attack of the debate.
The statement represented only the most memorable facet of what critics see as Crowley’s biased performance.
The veteran CNN journalist interrupted Mitt Romney 28 times, Barack Obama only nine, in keeping with a pro-Democratic pattern that holds true throughout all 2012 debates so far.
Moderator Matha Raddatz interrupted vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan 15 times, but cut off Joe Biden only five. Biden himself erratically interjected himself into nearly all of Ryan’s answers.
Crowley, who has a history of pro-abortion statements, personally vetted all questions the candidates were asked. According to one analysis, since the advent of the town hall debate, moderators have chosen liberal questions over conservative questions by a margin of two-to-one. Some say the same pattern held true last night.
At all three debates, Democrats have received more speaking time than Republicans.
President Obama spoke for 44 minutes, four seconds Tuesday night, while Romney talked only for 40 minutes, 50 seconds.
In the first presidential debate Obama spoke for three minutes, 14 seconds longer than Mitt Romney. Joe Biden got one minute, 22 seconds more speaking time than Paul Ryan. Altogether, the Democrats have enjoyed nearly nine minutes more debate time than their Republican counterparts.
Rush Limbaugh mentioned the Crowley controversy on his radio show Wednesday, saying, “She committed an act of journalistic terror or malpractice last night. If there were any journalistic standards, what she did last night would have been the equivalent of blowing up her career like a suicide bomber.”

The transcript?? Why did she happen to have the transcript?? And opened to the right page??
Somebody should at least ask.

My recollection: It was a single sheet of paper. It could not have been the full transcript. Draw your own conclusions from that.
The MSM can spin the content of what is being said in these debates, but it can't argue about the glaring bias that people are SEEING in these debates.
I think it couldn't be working any better for the R/R campaign.
Actually, I watched this closely. She had a very small stack of papers, probably prompts for the intros and questions. During the Benghazi issue, it seemed as she shuffled through them. Right before Obama said “read the transcript” she held a paper in her hands, like she was offering it up. From what I could see in watching it again, she did not do that at any other time.

Does anyone doubt whether Obama approved both debtates' questions beforehand and knew or knew of the "independent voters selected by CNN?
IMHO part of the reason Obama's numbers are falling like a concrete slab are due to the "help" he's been seen getting from the corrupt and untrusted liberal media. Deception the Obamabots think is hidden is, in reality, quite obvious to the average voter.

The majority of Americans are not stupid. They heard 2 weeks worth of excuses and apologies for a lame video. And that is my other question. How did Obama know about this video that had only been viewed 10 times? Why did he pick that one, done by a Coptic Christian? Since then, the man was dragged off to prison, while countless middle eastern countries, in reaction to Obama's video apology, set fires. In Tripoli, they burned down a Kentucky Fried Chicken. Will Obama take responsibility for KFC's loss? (/sarc)
Better yet ... How did Obama know about an anti-muslim YouTube video, viewed only 10 times, and choose that one as the excuse for the riots? No one knew about this video until Obama used it as an excuse and what was the reaction in the Middle East? Riots! In Tripoli, they burned down a Kentucky Fried Chicken. Will Obama take responsibility for those losses? And what about the Coptic Christian who made the "only viewed 10 times" tape? He was carted off to jail in the middle of the night. What about his rights?

Candy Crowley just made herself into a footnote in history as an archetype of a political pimp, not a journalist. At the end of the day, her abusing her role as moderator will define her fifteen minutes of fame. The phrase “he’s pulling a Crowley” will be understood as a quick way to define a reporter acting as PR chief for the subject of his interview. Crowley’s toast.
Not for this media. What she did was make herself more valuable.

And worst of all -- even with the transcript in her hands she still got it wrong.
This was mentioned yesterday on FR as well as today. I was surprised Rush Limbaugh didn’t bring up the way she and Obama had staged this ahead of the debate. I’ve send Rush a bunch of emails yesterday and today to bring this up but haven’t heard or seen it on his show or website yet. Maybe tomorrow, hopefully. Mitt should hit Zer0 again on the same question in the next debate. This time Mitt should have a better chance to blow him away without Candy getting in the middle of it and cutting him off.
Clearly a set up! How did Obama know that Crowley had a copy of the Rose Garden transcript?! Only if he was privy to the question and had prepared a response based on a broad statement made in the Rose Garden the day after the Libya incident.
