Neil Macdonald: Mitt Romney was right about the Benghazi attack
CBC ^ | 10/19/2012 | Neil MacDonald

...it seems pretty clear that the White House deliberately misled the public about the attack in Benghazi, either for security reasons or perhaps for political ones.

The Benghazi attack appears to undermine a central Obama campaign boast that al-Qaeda is "on its heels," if not a conquered force.

Many Republicans now want Romney to press this case in the final debate on Monday, which will be devoted entirely to foreign policy.

If Romney does, and the president is not given an escape hatch by the moderator again, it will be interesting to hear his answers.

the White House deliberately misled the public

Obama seemed to get truly angry when he struck back at Romney for hinting that the president would "mislead" anyone. I think that is a very hot button for our thin-skinned president.

His whole life is a lie. Every aspect of his upbringing, his governing style, and his political philosophy -- it's all based on lies. I think he dreads the exposure of it all.

A smart strategy for Mitt in the last debate would be to relentlessly hint that Obama is a liar. In every possible answer, Mitt should indicate that the president is untruthful, has something to hide, and is misleading the public.

Obama would have a meltdown.

“I think that is a very hot button for our thin-skinned president”

I’m sure the LIAR in chief will think all will be forgiven when he puts on his superman cape and sends drones in to get the baddies the week before elections. It won’t really matter to him who is blown up. And I suspect that the baddies will be surrounded by women and children when it happens since they know we know who and where they can be found.

they LIED for two whole weeks at every turn and sought out chances to broadcast their lies. It was supposed to be a fake kidnapping of our ambassador, only the Seals intervened and killed a bunch of them, they thought they were set up, called for reinforcements and killed everybody.

obama was supposed to trade the blind sheik for the ambassador, that was the plan. it got foiled, like rotten things do sometimes

I suspect and hope that the greater the scope of Romney’s victory the less chance there will be of Obama pulling some sensational stunt as a hail Mary. His handlers will cut him off to protect themselves.

Totally agree...the plan was take over consulate...hold Ambassador Stevens hostage (Iran 79), the Present Obama would ride in on his white pony and save the day.
Problem’s 2 former S.E.A.L.’s who were on site for a different mission.
Present Obama or his Admin, did not react as surprised!
The Egyptian Embassy started the “It’s a Video”, for the sole purpose of stirring up the hornet nest. There were no “protests” prior to the Egyptian Embassy tweeting!

64K question....Where were the Ambassadors’ personal security detail? Every Ambassador has personal security details...fact!

I think the Whitehouse had plenty of intelligence that they ignored....because the timing was not right. And four Americans died.

Yet Obama had to have a photo op with the coffins. One sick dude.

The ambassador’s security detail consisted of unarmed contract employees from a British security firm (”armed” only with flashlights and batons) and some Libyan guards, who fled immediately.

I don’t think Obama would have been averse to having the ambassador kidnapped, but I think AQ has a mind of its own, and they really wanted to kill him to show their power. They were obviously looking for him specifically when they pulled him through that hole in the wall, and they wanted to be seen as triumphant when they paraded him through the streets and desecrated his corpse. I wouldn’t put it beyond Obama to want a hostage situation, but I honestly don’t think he can control AQ the way he would like to. He thinks they’ll know that he’s an ally, but in truth, they hate the Great Satan so much they don’t really care about sniveling little Barry. They won’t be happy until the black flag of Islam is waving over the WhiteHouse.

You give Obama too much credit. Think about the other sick dudes and dudettes he's surrounded by. Axelrod, Jarrett, etc. Let that marinate. Can you imagine the horrors we'd hear if we were privy to the private conversations of this administration?

Very sick. Every day, he comes out with something worse that reveals what a sociopath he is - such as referring to the deaths of the Americans as “not optimal.”. And then of course there’s his laughter and inattention at inappropriate moments, such as after the Fort Hood attack and in fact virtually at any time when there has been an attack or a terrible event. This is called lack of affect and is a clear indicator of a disturbed personality.

And the tag team of Clinton-Rice-Obama-Carney stirred the hornets nest more by perpetuating the lie and alerting the muslim world to a video the most likely would never have heard about. Not to mention trumping up charges an American citizen to appease the enemy. #NotOptimal

-——but I honestly don’t think he can control AQ the way he would like to——

It seems to me the assault was planned with deliberation and a mission. It was not a random event. The attackers knew when and where to attack with overwhelmning firepower to kill the ambassador.

Not only was the attack an intel failure for not seeing it coming, more important is the fact someone provided them with the relevant info to accomplish their mission. There was a total counterintel failure. There was a mole

There was definitely a mole. It’s possible that it was one of our Libyan “allies,” of course, as frequently happens in Afghanistan.

But this administration is such a combination of destructive and incompetent that I wouldn’t be surprised if the mole turned out to be an American further up the food chain.

Why has no one picked up on the fact that Obama said, in the Rose Garden “these acts of terror”. The important part is the phrase these acts...plural. If people would just use the fact that the President used the word “acts” not act they could easily prove that he was not referring to the attack in Benghazi.
