Incommunicado (Regime blocks Military from testifying on Benghazi)

House Armed Services chairman blocked from getting answers from senior military about threat warnings prior to Benghazi consulate attack...

The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is demanding answers from four senior United States military officers about whether there was advance warning of terrorist threats and the need for greater security prior to last month’s terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

However, an aide to the chairman, Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, (R., Calif.), said the office of secretary of defense Leon Panetta blocked the senior officers from providing the answers last night.

“The chairman is disappointed that the administration won’t respond to this basic request for information,” the aide said.

“It is nearly unprecedented that the office of the secretary of defense would prohibit a member of the uniformed military from answering direct questions posed by the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.”

Pentagon spokesman George Little told the Free Beacon: “We received the letters last night and are working expeditiously to provide a response.”

The chairman’s letters are dated Thursday. They were sent to Gen. Carter F. Ham, commander of the U.S. Africa Command, which is responsible for military activities in Africa; Adm. William H. McRaven, commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command; Vice Adm. Kurt W. Tidd, director for operations at the Pentagon’s Joint Staff; and Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

McKeon asked the officers to provide answers to questions about security threats by the close of business Friday.

This needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Maybe then the public will pay attention.

Ollie North HAD to testify. This regime has got to be made accountable. A prison in Illinois awaits the whole lot of them.

Regime to military: Cover our asses — oh, and don’t even think about voting.

TREASONOUS BASSTURDS!

Leon Panetta is the second-worst Cabinet Secretary ever, behind only Hillary Clinton; his actions/inaction in this matter are nothing less than ‘high crimes and misdemeanors.’

This is an alarming, although not entirely unexpected, development. The regime is clearly stonewalling and delaying discussion on matters of security that impact our diplomatic missions abroad. This is very serious stuff.

Mitt needs to seize on this and make the American people aware of what’s going on.

Then arrest Leon Panetta immediately.

Competent Romney ads about this would have Romney ahead of Barry by 10 points. Alas, Romney is too weak to do so.

Good post. Humorous yet captures the absurd, if not surreal, political environment we’re in. We simply must turn the ship of state around in November and get this country back on the right course.

So, congress gets a court order for the generals to testify. Panetta ignores it. What can be done? Who is going to force them to testify? I guess they can be found in contempt like Holder.

I pray Romney gets in then prosecutes everyone of these bastards for treason. They sacrificed four human lives.

If I was in the military or served in a civilian position I’d resign immediately. If Panetta and obama can’t be arrested, neither can anyone else if they stick together.

A good suggestion but you may be overstating the impact. The country has been dumbed down and “entitleized” to the point where I’m not sure a 10 point gap is possible.

We have an ongoing covert op in Libya that has been partially exposed by the Benghazi attack.

Nothing more is going to be said by our intelligence services to anyone.

Romney has been briefed and neither campaigns are going to add to the discussion.

The Monday night debate will only lightly discuss Libya and only within the context of our overall Mid-east policy.

All of us need to drop this story line. If you see the national media going silent, it is not due to partisan politics.

As much as anyone I want to see the Obama administration tagged for the security failures in Libya but that can’t be done right now and not for months.

Would you mind giving us a source for your claim?

The op isn’t covert anymore because you know about it from somewhere.
