BLUEFIELD, W.Va.-Norfolk Southern Corp. says it has laid off about 200 workers in the railroad's divisions based in Bluefield and Roanoke.
Robin Chapman of Norfolk Southern tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that decreased coal traffic led to the furloughs.
Chapman said the company has offered affected employees jobs at seven other areas in the Norfolk Southern system: Chicago, Elkhart, Ind., Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio, and Conway, Altoona and Harrisburg, Pa. Chapman said accepting one of those placements would require "permanent relocation."
VA and WVa, paying attention?
Hey, this is not a problem. nobama and Lisa are sure to have lots of green jobs lined up for those laid off.
Without Democrat Senators support Obama’s EPA couldn’t have killed coal jobs.
So WV will send another one back to the Senate LOL!
I live by one of the affected lines and the decrease has been very noticable.
And while West Virginians are happily voting barky out of office, they will also be sending a chief enabler of everything barky stands for to DC for 6 more years.
All Manchin has to do is make an ad where he pretends to dislike some particular piece of rat legislation and the WV voters will eat it right up...
Rockefeller will do likewise.

Bill Clinton said that Obama has a recovery going...
People in Coal Country...vote for people who support COAL not green energy.
Pretty hefty lay-offs considering the number of trains on the Heartland Express that runs thru Roanoke and by my house. Now that I think about it, traffic has been down and that is not a good thing for the economy.
