Joe Klein: Benghazi Consulate Controversy 'The October Mirage - It Really Isn't An Issue'
NewsBusters.org ^ | October 21, 2012 | Noel Sheppard

The Obama-loving media were out in force Sunday downplaying the significance of the White House's ever-changing position on the attacks on our consulate in Benghazi last month.

After New York Times White House correspondent Helene Cooper called the death of four Americans "peripheral to what's going on right now" on Meet the Press, Time magazine's Joe Klein told Face the Nation viewers this matter "has been like the October mirage - it really isn't an issue" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Joe Klein: Benghazi Consulate Attack Controversy 'The October Mirage - It Really Isn't An Issue'

JOE KLEIN, TIME MAGAZINE: Tomorrow night is fascinating because, in truth, these guys don't disagree all that much on all this stuff. They essentially have the same positions on foreign policy. This business about the, you know, the Libya consulate has been like the October mirage - it really isn't an issue.

And so, once again, tomorrow, Obama is going to have a very strong position because his foreign policy has been largely successful in terms of substance, but in terms of style, he still has to climb -- re-climb the mountain and make a convincing case to the American people that they will be more comfortable with him in their living rooms the next four years.

Honestly, have you ever in your life seen so many so-called journalists dismiss the importance of American officials being killed by terrorists?

Makes you wonder why they all aren't forced to wear "Obama-Biden" buttons so viewers would better understand the propagandist nature of the reports they're watching and reading.

Klien has no credibility, period... He is a liar!

Klein denied writing the book “Primary Color” and publicly condemned Foster. Klein denied authorship again in Newsweek, speculating that another writer wrote it. Washington Post Style editor David von Drehle, in an interview, asked Klein if he was willing to stake his journalistic credibility on his denial, to which Klein agreed. On July 17, 1996, Klein admitted that the speculation had been correct.

0bama talked about "politicizing Benghazi"???..

Romney needs to go 'MAN UP' on this issue and accuse 0bama at attempting a cover-up on Benghazi to save his re-election bid. That is what REALLY happened here.. Everyone in the White House, State Dept., etc., freaked out saying 'Oh my God this will destroy Barack's presidency if the people find out we pulled back security then Stevens died from a terrorist attack because we ABANDONED HIM TO BE A SITTING DUCK'...

The 'protest over a movie' line was CONJURED UP as cover, given to Susan Rice to FOOL US WITH. It didn't work. Now we know they attempted to cover this up to shield 0bama's re-election from harm. Why can't the TRUTH be said here? Nixon was beaten up for YEARS over Watergate and no one died!! Oh, that's right, he wasn't liberal or black, so..

And, he is a mean & arrogant asshole!

In May 2009 he invited further controversy when he was quoted in an article in Politico.com, wherein he stated that the reasoning and ideas of prominent conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer were of limited value because of Krauthammer’s wheelchair use:

“There’s something tragic about him... His work would have a lot more nuance if he were able to see the situations he’s writing about.”

Liberals never want the war word mentioned because war never happens in their world except their war on Americans.

Pray for America

"He is a liar!

The deaths of four Americans any time is a big deal, with the exception maybe of South Side Chicago....be that as it may....The progressives who allow Obama to try and two-step this atrocious crime are no better than Hillary and Obama, two politicians this country can do without. They didn't want God to be part of their convention, they want this Marxist for a second term...a man (?) who is has nearly destroyed America's exceptionalism in less than 4 years....Klein must be a poster boy for Baghdad Bob for surely that ilk is cheering this sorry sob on.

I shudder to think how these cockroaches will explain obama’s defeat, and I am sure that they will attack president romney with every bit of the passion that they are protecting president obama

Me thinks that after the election numerous broadcast licenses need to be re-examined.

So the meme is to be Libya is a non issue contrived by Romney. They’ll ask about the courage of killing Osama, the successful end of the Iraq war, winding down of Afghanistan, weakening al-Qaeda, the success of the Arab Spring and keeping terror off of our shores.

Me thinks that after the election numerous broadcast licenses need to be re-examined.
We ought to above board about it - win the WH, Senate, and House majorities, and pass a law requiring FCC licensees to televise one debate a week from the end of the conventions to the week of the election.

No restrictions on the use of notes; in fact the use of Power Point presentations would be encouraged, along with web site documentation of all facts adduced in debate. And no moderator other than a chess timer controlling the microphone and the clock, so that equal time would be automatic.

Democrats and journalists would hate that. Too much emphasis on facts and logic, and too hard to demagogue.

Well, I’m sure Ambassador Stevens is comforted to know his murder is not a serious concern.

We’ve come to a point in this country where the press thinks it’s more appropriate for the nation to be outraged over some college student failing to get her birth control paid for than it is to be outraged over the omcpletely preventable murder of four Americans by cavemen.

Everything the administration and the fawning MSM (aside from the few MSM voices that aren’t fawning) says about Benghazi merely damns themselves even more. Ever word they utter is a shovel digging the hole deeper.

These people are odious and beyond odious, they are loathesome in their self-consequence that devalues every other thing, including the lives of serving military and, in this case, diplomatic-corps people.

FRiend is right, Romney needs to get after Barky on his ass-kissing and ring-kissing (hey, what's that ring, Barky? It says, "There is no God but Allah?" Is that what it says?) and his refusal to use the word "terrorist" -- which means, as FRiend pointed out, practical consequences to widows and orphans.

Kissing up to barbarians and murderers, while letting dead soldiers' widows and kids languish -- dressing down America while strangers promise to murder Americans in their beds. Sixty years ago, Barky would be lashed to a rail and covered with feathers, sitting by the road on the edge of town.
