Terrific: More Americans are getting government health care than are working

Simply unsustainable.

When you really think about it, it’s a stunning fact. There are now more people in America receiving government health care benefits – Medicare and Medicaid – than there are full-time workers in the economy.

It’s an eye-opener, but it’s more than that. It’s also evidence that we have a system that, by definition, cannot be sustained.

Medicaid and Medicare had a gross combined enrollment of 119,249,000 in 2011. At the same time, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said that 112,556,000 people worked full-time in the United States in 2011, including 17,806,000 who worked for all levels of government and 94,750,000 who worked for the private sector.

Who do you think pays for the benefits enjoyed by Medicare and Medicaid recipients? Private-sector workers, of course. Now of course, government workers pay taxes too. But where do you think the money comes from to the pay the salaries of government workers at every level of government? From private-sector workers! Without private-sector workers first paying taxes, there would be no government salaries from which to withhold taxes.

The bottom line is that private-sector producers ultimately must generate all the wealth that’s needed to support government at every level. We already know that the federal government is spending 25 percent of the nation’s entire $14 trillion economy, but when you include state, county and local governments, then add in local school districts all across the country, government is actually spending more than 40 percent of GDP.

I’m tired.

I’ve been fighting so long, and working so hard.

I think I’ll Go Galt, ASAP. Become a Medicare or Medicaid recipient. Crash the system. Sort of a conservative Cloward Piven.

Medicare is a totally completely different entity from Medicaid.
It is as different as Social Security is from TANF

The is a simple solution to fix a simple problem. And, no, it is not a complex problem. The people on Medicaid do not contribute to America. They are takers, the 47%. So eliminate Medicaid. Half of the problem is fixed. The other half of the problem is solved by privatizing Medicare. So not to upset my mom, we can have that start with people my age. I am willing to keep working so there is an America for my children when they are adults.

What’s the problem?! Ben Bernanke can keep printing up $1 Trillion each year to cover it. It has worked the last 5 years.....

Sort of a conservative Cloward Piven.

I'm gonna trademark that term!

Right now, the leftist centers of thought, organization and power ALL rely on Gov't for legislation and funding - whether it is public sector unions, leftists in academia, ACORN, etc...

So while a bankrupt Federal Gov't would be a nightmare, conservatives would survive, small, local Gov't would be enhanced - but it is unlikely the leftist edifice would survive (unless martial law is declared). Plus - conservatives have all the guns. Maybe Cloward Piven had everything backwards....

To be a democrat you have to believe:

1. That 13,000 PAGES of new government regulations of Obamacare are a good thing.
2. That socialism (government) works).
3. That government bureaucrats controlling what we eat and drink that they do it for our own good.

etc.

Question. How many of those people that are receiving health care are actually Americans?My6 guess that a large portion of them are illegal’s coming here sucking off of the system.

This is one of the reasons why ObamaCare cannot work.No matter how much money is used to fund it.

If the government wants to control the cost of healthcare they need to control illegal immigration and keep those without American citizenship off of the healtcare system.

Lumping the two together royally pisses me off.

A few years back, someone digging in the Iberian Peninsula found a piece of bone with 21 markings in one direction, seven in another. While the archaeologist (a lady) said it was of 'obvious religious significance', I think it was simply a calendar.

Psychology Today published a story about a study in the '70s which said women living in close quarters will synchronize their menses, given time.

Three weeks for the group to be normal, one week for the group's symptoms to pass, and that's the week the guys go over the mountain to hunt things that could kill them...rather than remain in camp.

I think that whatever the nomenclature, the phenomenon has been around for a very long time.

Heh. We Baby Boomers haven’t begun to sit on our asses, steal everything through our beloved, bipartisan big government and blame the young folks we’ve put out of work in favor of our beloved foreign enemies. It’s not us! It’s that other 47%!

LOL! Commies. Nothing in politics at all but commies.

So eliminate Medicaid. Half of the problem is fixed.

Good luck with getting the GOP to do that. The GOP is far too scared and too moderate to support really tough measures.
