The Romneys have what appears to be a beautiful marriage, one that held strong despite Mitt Romney's ambitious political career and Ann Romney's serious health woes.
Bette Midler cares more about bashing the couple's Mormon faith on the marriage front to score some cheap partisan points.
Midler is actually off by a generation, but cheap shot artists only require fuzzy math.
Twitchy dutifully points out that Midler is apparently nonplussed by the polygamy going on in the Obama family tree. And you don't need to scale said tree too far to find

There is a bastard communist in the white hut Bette.
Men in the bible with multiple wives
http://www.rickbeckman.org/men-of-the-bible-with-multiple-wives/
And sin is relevant because some dudes in the Bible had many wives, or you don’t get historical concepts?
God is very clear - one man, one woman, become one flesh
She said the Romney’s grandpa was in Mexico because of many wives, that is correct.
It’s not relevant to Mitt Romney but it is correct.
Not really sure Obama’s father was a polygamist.
Not really sure Hussein Obama was his father.
Not sure they ever married.
As for Bette Midler she was a fair singer, a fair actress, and not known for her intelligence, much better known for her foul mouth.
Bette, Cher, Rosie and Eva.
An entertainer has to know her audience. Obama’s part of it faster than you can say Jack Robinson, to reference an infamous scene in Slap Shot.
nonplussed
To put at a loss as to what to think, say, or do; bewilder.
A state of perplexity, confusion, or bewilderment.
So then I’m plussed most of the time?
CORRECTION!
I mistakenly wrote above that Mitt Romney’s grandfather was a polygamist. THat’s not true. His GREAT-GRANDFATHER was a polygamist. HIs grandfather was not.
George Romney would have never been elected dog catcher had he been born of a polygamist marriage. Those rules don’t apply to the current president, however.
So Kings David and Solomon were sinners as was Abraham...
Get a grip, as research will show you it is never enumerated as a sin by God. If you think it is then show me where in the Bible it is referred to in that fashion, otherwise cease
Of course they were sinners, why would you think otherwise?
Genesis 2:24
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
1 Corinthians 7:34
The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband.
For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
Ephesians 5:31-33
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Shut up and sing!!
Hopefully, though you might also be whelmed, sheveled, gruntled or raveled.
“Men in the bible with multiple wives”
Of course they did. Every sin is fleshed out in the Bible for you to see the consequences. That does not mean God endorses sin. He records it in 3D.
[Obviously, mormonism, the cult, still believes in eternal polygamy for every polygamous marriage that was sealed in their “temples” (that look a lot like the lobby of a Marriott, btw). Heck, they believe God has one or more wives he breeds with...]
I don’t see how this is relevant to Mr. Romney at this juncture. No need to try to justify it from Scripture.
Cuckoo rumor of the day: Romney will ban hair weaves and the Dollar Menu

Good pt
(Well, not yet...Ann Romney has MS. Per this source, MS, the life expectancy of people with MS is 5-10 yrs lower than unaffected people...If Mitt became a widower...and remarried another Mormon "for eternity" in the Lds temple...then, per Lds doctrine...Mitt would become an eternal polygamist at some pt beyond death)
Well, so did Ghengis Khan, Tarmalane, and a whole slew of other pagan rulers. (For some reason, people don't seem to get around citing them as living examples)
Also, so do fLds today.
Are they some sort of "righteous" exemplaries others are to follow?
And, of course, voters should be extremely concerned about what may or may not happen in Mr. Romney's marriage in the next life, right?
Good grief, Colo. Do you have anything in your life to do besides Mormon bashing? You're just sad.
