Richard Mourdock: God at work when rape leads to pregnancy

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Indiana Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said Tuesday when a woman is impregnated during a rape, "it’s something God intended."

Mourdock, who’s been locked in a tight race with Democratic challenger Rep. Joe Donnelly, was asked during the final minutes of a debate whether abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest.

"I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happened," Mourdock said.

What is the obsession with rape and pregnancy? Does it happen so often that it needs to be discussed this much?

I understand his point, but he didn’t make it very artfully.

Punishing a baby with death is always wrong.

What, pray, is not "artful" about that statement"

Answer: NOTHING!!!

Quit letting the presstitutes do your thinking for you.

Here we go again.

The MSM will once again brutally attack a strong Pro Life Conservative simply because he understands rape and pregnancy and is willing to express his view.

The correct response to this question is very simple: “The Supreme Court has ruled that capital punishment for the crime of rape is ‘cruel and unusual punishment’. If it’s cruel and unusual to inflict the death penalty on a rapist, how can it be acceptable to inflict death on an innocent child conceived during that rape?”

It’s very easily twisted into “God intended the RAPE to happen.”

Not that it’s surprising, but people here have been taken in by a few Missouri Senate race push-polls and fooled into thinking Akin has a chance; actually he’s down 6 and 8 in the only two more or less legitimate polls this month. He’s actually running 11 points behind ROMNEY in Missouri.

This isn’t as bad as Akin’s comments, but it’s going to hurt Murdock badly.

What you or I, or anyone on Free Republic, thinks of the comments is absolutely irrelevant; what matters are the views of undecided voters in Indiana. I assure you that especially among women, they will not be positive.

Unbelievably smart to do so.

Sigh. I did not hear this on local news. Will have to listen to the local Greg Garrison http://www.wibc.com/ radio show tomorrow morning. Mourdock is running against two - a Libertarian and a Democrat. Can’t republicans just know that they are running to save our country from socialism?

Eh, I didn't think we'd get the Senate to begin with. And I think Romney can insulate himself from this. Thankfully it's after all the debates, and he made it through all of them without having an abortion question.

I watched this debate. Mourdock was doing very well throughout the debate and then said this....

I told my wife it would be national news by tomorrow. I was wrong, it took less than an hour.

All these idiots need to say is, “ I am pro life and will vote pro life in Congress “.... And don`t say another freaking word.

Mourdock had this election wrapped up. Now who the heck knows. Just incredible.

Well, I don’t exactly know what to say about this.

I do believe that if a conception occurs as a result of rape, then God does provide that baby with its soul, and that happens right away.

So I can’t actually disagree with what Murdoch has stated here.

However, I still remain in favor of allowing the mother to chose whether or not she wishes to bear the child of her rapist as opposed to forcing her to do it.

Ideally, she would agree that having the baby is the right thing to do. Whether or not she raises the child or gives the child up for adoption is another matter.

As far as Murdoch saying this...out loud...it takes guts to speak on beliefs such as this these days, and I do admire such guts. I’d vote for him.

Now that was artful!!!

It is even understandable to the lowest moron, but it's never artful during the closing days of a political campaign due to evil thinking becoming so commonplace in this God blessed nation!!!
