One has to wonder why movies like this don’t do well. I guess even conservatives don’t like movies too heavy with ideology?

I won’t watch a movie that takes Christ’ Name in vain. That was their first mistake. They can do a movie and leave out using God’s Name in vain. You don’t violate this principal. It is primary over even thinking that you are making your movie more believable.

While I agree with the idea that Christ should not be a vulgarity in speach, please understand what God meant when He directed that His ‘name’ not be taken in vain.

God’s purpose and directive is that His power and authority not be abused by men. Not that His personal name be bantied about casually. The same concept is when the police once said “Stop, in the name of the law”. This is critical to the idea and should never be taken lightly. Since the law has no personal name, it would be impossible to say “Stop, in the name of Steve” just the same as it would be to take the Lord’s name in vain. Since the Hebrews did not know the personal name of God, then they could not misuse His personal name so the Commandment would have been a waste if that was God’s intent. The Almighty knew that men in power and authority would (and did) use His power and authority for purposes never intended by God. God did not codify anything about personal names. Instead He forbid the abuse of His authority.
