Pray for an end to 'the Obama tribulation' (voting strategy to bring hope back to America)

Barack Obama quoted Scripture during his appearance at the Alfred E. Smith dinner last week. He didn’t quote from “the holy Quran,” as he has referred to it. He quoted from the Bible – or at least his joke writer did.

In fact, he quoted from the Apostle Paul in Romans 5: “… it’s written in Scripture that tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance, character, and character hope,” said Obama. “This country has fought through some very tough years together. And while we still have a lot of work ahead. We’ve come as far as we have mainly because of the perseverance and character of ordinary Americans. And it says something about who we are as a people that in the middle of a contentious election season, opposing candidates can share the same stage. People from both parties can come together.”

Let me suggest that’s not exactly what Rabbi Shaul, Paul’s real name, had in mind when he strung together something resembling that phrase. He didn’t mean that rough times produce perseverance and perseverance produces character and character produces hope so members of different political parties and ideologies could all get along superficially once in a blue moon.

The hope Shaul was referring to was the hope of eternal salvation.

That’s something much deeper than a quip to be lightly tossed out on gag night.

Here’s the context in the King James Version – verses 1-11: “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience;

More from the article:

"If Americans have any chance of restoring “liberty and justice for all” to this nation, there is only one option – vote for Mitt Romney.

He’s not likely to be the political messiah we would like. My hope is his election will simply buy us the time we need to ensure the Obama tribulation does not become more than we can bear."

Obama brings to mind Ephesians 6:12:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Re: Uh oh, it’s WND so it’s more important to jump on WND than discuss the content, of course. Meanwhile, Obama followers act like Obama is Jesus Christ — such actions are to be attributed to Antichrist-style worship.

BTW, great job on the calendar and the DNC’s comparison to Obama and Jesus, the Christ.

I’m not quite sure what you mean by “Uh oh, it’s WND so it’s more important to jump on WND than discuss the content, of course.”

Here’s my thoughts on WND. They have some great articles and some OK articles. I thought this article was worth posting on FR’s giant “chronological searchable news database” for review and/or discussion by our fellow Freepers. If Freepers have to go to WND temporarily because of WND’s copyright policy, well good for WND, but people will be right back to FR (at least I am.)

Personally, I’m more concerned about getting the info from great minds out there for review than boring people with my humble opinions on the subject.

Indeed, he does, as well as several passages from Revelation.
