For all the buzz about President Barack Obama’s skills on the basketball court, the NBA’s commissioner, David Stern, thinks the hype is overblown.
“He’s not that good,” Stern, who announced Thursday he is retiring in 2014, said in an interview with Reuters. “He’s a lefty, he goes the same way every time.”
Stern’s critique, good-natured as it was, wasn’t simply some partisan swipe.
“I’m a loyal Democrat, a passionate Democrat. He’s not as good as he thinks he is.”
More seriously, Stern explained the effect of having a hoops fan in the White House.

I’ve seen Obama’s style...he can’t drive. Too much of a pussy to dribble his way out of trouble. Gives the ball up if he can to somebody else unless he can get an easy foul and free throws. Not a power forward or boarder on offense or defense. In other words, I can throw that MF down when I drive on him and I don’t get called for charging...BAM!
I read that it took Obama eight shots to actually make a basket in front of the kids at the last Easter Egg Roll. Of course, the news only showed the one that he made.
To flog a well-worn phrase regarding Dear Leader: He’s a legend in his own mind!
