Ping!
BTTT!
But what was their proficiency in Ebonics?
This is excellent news. The students are receiving a good education. I’m surprised the school hasn’t been “caught” by the supergubs and made to shut down. How dare they teach effectively without help from a teachers union and government funding?!

Primarily:
Set high standards.
Maintain discipline.
Involve the parents.
Secondarily:
Hire good teachers; fire the bad ones.
Set high standards.
Maintain discipline.
Sounds like the parochial schools I went to!
Sounds like the parochial schools I went to!
Yup. And most of the sisters probably had little more than high school diplomas themselves.
My BIL attended a parochial school in NYC. There were 40-50 kids in his classes.
I had 50 to 65 students in my parochial school classes. Discipline was very strict by today’s standards.
Uh oh. Neither Obama nor the NY Board of Regents will stand for this. This school will be shut down in no time. Best for good schools to stay under the radar in order to continue the effective dumbing down of America’s kids.
Agree on all.
Where’s the hot link?
And I bet your BIL turned out just fine! I keep saying, bring back the fire & brimstone! Stay safe.
My my immediate reaction, as a teacher, is that most likely these girls: have a mind-set to learn; they are not disciplinary problems; they are not crack-babies to begin with and are therefore capable of learning; they are not afraid of being told they are “acting too white” by their peers because they are participating in class and are doing their work; and they value an education. These are just some thoughts.
And I’ll bet your parents were VERY involved.
“a soft-spoken woman with six children who never finished college”
her 6 children never finished college or the soft spoken woman never finished college? obviously the soft spoken woman is smarter than the “journalist” who “penned” this “article”
Ve hav de Deutche syntax, ja?
Throw the baby down the stairs the ball.
you know this involvement of the parents is total garbage. all the parents need to do is provide a quiet house, meals on time and a sense of security. it used to make me livid when there was homework that I had to participate in. I have already been to fourth grade. I have enough to do with laundry, cleaning, cooking and chauffeuring without that too. My parents never had even a clue what my homework was and I did great.
