there is painting....which allows the armament to lock on and follow the laser down tot he target and there is lazing a target and storing the location such as a road intersection. In both cases you laze a target however if you laze a target when there is a fricken firefight going on with bullets flying, mortars dropping, fire and all hell breaking loose you are not lazing it for future grid coordinates.
