Even in vividly blue California, President Obama's luster has faded since his historic victory here in 2008, a new poll has found.
Despite his sizable lead over Mitt Romney, the president is unlikely to repeat his historic 2008 margin of victory here because of his diminished power to pull in people who don't traditionally support Democrats, according to the USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll.

The same trends that are making the presidential contest tight in the battleground states are evident in California, particularly the decline in support for Obama among white voters and men. In 2008, Obama won male voters by 18 percentage points over Republican nominee John McCain; he currently leads Romney by 1 point among likely male voters. Among white men, Obama beat McCain by two percentage points; Romney now leads among them by 17 points.

A lot of that “Edge” has returned to Mexico since they couldn’t find any jobs in Obama’s/Moonbeam’s Kalifornia.
Arnold ruined any chance we had at making a race out of California. They did it to themselves, then gave the “republican” a chance to fix it. Now the republican brand is tied to Arnold and GWB. California is a lost cause. Going back to the Gray Davis recall election, we should have backed Tom McClintock. He was clearly the competant one of the bunch, but instead we wanted the moronic “rock star”
Thank God for the Mexican exodus, even if it was enough of them. I hope Romney seals the border and they never come back.

Arnold just hurried the process
I would not be surprised if Obama carries the Left Coast states with a plurality of the popular vote.
That prospect has prompted the White House to arrange new ad buys in CA, OR and WA - states that should be safely locked up.
Its that bad out there.
I had to read to the end of the article to find out that Obama is beating independents 54 to 34 percent. Is that credible? Of course this is a poll of registered voters, not likely voters.
Also, I couldn’t find the actual poll numbers in the story for the whole sample. What kind of reporting is this? It only states that Obama is 14 points ahead.
It also says 51 percent think the nation is headed in the wrong direction? So, why would they vote for Obama?
Particularly galling was the quote from a radical feminist Hispanic who supports abortion who applauds the President’s Executive Order to allow young illegal immgirants to stay in America.
That and the fact that smart people (which apparently doesn’t include me) are leaving for greener pastures....or Texas.
The California special election of 2005 was called by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. California voters rejected all eight ballot propositions. Propositions 73, 76, and 77 were initiative constitutional amendments while the others were initiative statutes. The election was believed to have been the most expensive in California history. Lobby groups spent hundreds of millions of dollars on gathering signatures and advertising for this election. Schwarzenegger called the election to allow voters to decide on propositions regarding teacher tenure requirements (Proposition 74), the use of union dues for political campaign contributions (Proposition 75), state budgetary spending limits (Proposition 76), and redistricting (Proposition 77).
All those props were voted down by the morons of Ca.

If none of the tax increase propositions passes and proposition 32 (bans involuntary political contributions), there still might be hope for us in CA.
Prop 32 has an excellent chance of passing and the tax increases props have been competing against each other and have been declining in popularity.
This says everything about the demographic mountain in CA.

You are full of it. The Republican brand was in deep trouble thanks to Pete Wilson and Prop 187. In CA, GWB did far more damage than Arnold. McClintock would never have won the recall just as he failed to win other statewide offices every single time.
As a larger than life figure, Arnold was potentially the right candidate but the voters abandoned him too quickly when he pushed for reforms at the ballot box in 2005. The unions ran $100 million in ads to destroy him all year long and the extremist legislature became intransigent. Without any assurance of voter support, he found no option but to go left for survival.
The more truth that comes out this week on how Bam Bam and his Regime helped kill the four heroes in Benghazi, the cowardly liars lead may go completely away in CA and Oregon.
There, fixed it as truly 'optimal'.
