In three charts. Walker won easily in his recall not thanks to depressed Democrats in Madison or Milwaukee but by amped support in the Milwaukee suburbs, the Green Bay markets, and, importantly, the "rest of" the state. Places like NW Wisconsin (Duluth Metropolitan Area) W Wisconsin (part of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area) and Central Wisconsin. These "other parts" get ignored but are critical for a Republican and can make a serious difference.
Evidence below the fold, VERY big evidence.

Ummm...votes?
Those regiions, plus Walworth County are the exact ones the enabled Walker to win his recall election, plus some counties that are suburbs of Milwaukee and are within the area covered by Charlie Sykes and Mark Belling on their talk shows. I see no reason for them to change. Just ask Paul Ryan, my congressman last year before I moved to Illinois.
Non-stupid people to vote in greater number than communist-loving parasites...
I know the “other areas of the state” much better than the blue enclaves, and these are good hard working middle class folks who are not all Republican by any means, but who for the most part support traditional values and are absolutely, vitally, concerned about the economy as their #1 priority. Look at a map, there aren’t any big cities or urban centers, these smaller cities and rural areas take pride in their independence and regard Milwaukee as “Chicago North” and Madistan as “25 square miles surrounded by reality”. They love Paul Ryan and will go Romney-Ryan by a big margin.
Duluth and northern WI are pissed as hell that Democrats screwed up the taconite mine deal, which would have meant 500+ much-needed Union jobs. Now Oshkosh and Kimberley Clark announced big layoffs this past week, and how will Marinette Marine do if Obama cuts Navy spending?
Obama will lose WI.
Here’s something odd that I don’t understand:
In the Walker-Barrett recall, 121K votes were cast in Madison and Barret got 53.8% of them. Madison was the center of anti-Walker hatred, the Capitol protests, fleabagging, etc.
Then this data suggests that in the upcoming election, an additional 30K people will vote, and Obama will get 59.2% of them.
There was a lot more vitriolic hatred toward Scott Walker than there is toward Mitt Romney. The progressives have lost every battle they’ve fought since Obama was elected, and have to be suffering some buyers remorse, so I’m really questioning this prediction.
Are the KC plants in Menasha?
College kids were gone for the Summer then.
Analysis of the Wisconsin Republican vote.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
The Libs threw their tantrum, got their masses excited, and tried to recall Gov. Scott Walker, who easily retained his office by 7 points. Romney will cruise to a win in the Badger State.
You need it to win WI, go on Mitt wear the cheese hat.
They ought to not forget the western areas also. How about some attention to Eau Claire, Menomonie, Wausau, Marshfield, LaCrosse, and Superior? Seems like they are ignoring lots of potential votes there.
In the meaetine thwy could pick off lots of independent MN voters too, thus putting MN into play and helping out the GOP candidates for the MN House and Senate.
And I can hardly wait until Biden shows up in Oshkosh this Tuesday as 500 Oshkosh Corporation workers are getting their walking papers because of the defense budget cuts!
Agreed. We have a Marine running against Ron Kind. Would be nice to get some more attention here so that seat-warmer can get drummed out.
Thankfully, Vickie McKenna is being broadcasted up this way now. Madison can’t get away with their shenanigans as easily anymore.
Also, starting to see a lot more Romney signs popping up. There weren’t many campaign signs out anyway in our area but in the last week, oh yeah, it’s starting to look like an election is coming up.
I agree. I live in SW Wisconsin, which went easily for Obama in 08. Romney signs outnumber Obama signs by a good 10-1 this time around -- and many more have appeared in the last week, showing an increase in momentum.
My county depends on a Cummins plant. I read Cummins will be laying off many workers. Our plant makes carburetors for the military. The DOD cuts will have an impact.
This county votes Democrat, is run locally by Republicans and still managed to eke out a win for Walker.
Vernon County, WI, 45 miles SE of La Crosse.
I live outside of Madistan. RR signs outnumber 0bama signs about 20 to 1. Happy, Happy!

How far outside? Great news!
10 miles. All rural ‘round here. I mean people that actually FARM for a living.
Good! It’s a fight for the rest of the state to override the votes from Madison and Milwaukee.
