Romney's on a roll: Watch for a cascade of support that sweeps away the Obama regime
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | October 28, 2012 | Jack Kelly

The Navy needs more ships, Mitt Romney said in Monday's debate. It has fewer now than in 1916.

President Barack Obama pounced. "Well, governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military's changed," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "We have these things called aircraft carriers where planes land on them ... "

In the spin room, some journalists laughed and applauded. Liberals imagine themselves to be intellectually and morally superior to conservatives. They love to put them down.

But "sarcasm and condescension only work if the speaker's presumption of lofty superior knowledge is borne out by his command of actual facts," said Pastor Donald Sensing, a retired Army colonel.

Mr. Obama was wrong on both the thrust of his argument, and on the examples he used. Aircraft carriers need smaller ships to protect them, lest they be sunk. The military has many more bayonets now than in 1916. Marines think so highly of them they've designed a new one, modeled on the famous KA-BAR fighting knife. Special Forces soldiers on horseback were critical to ousting the Taliban.

The facts matter little to liberals. Their assumption of intellectual superiority isn't based on actual knowledge. Journalists declared the president the winner of the debate.

But facts and civility do matter to most Americans. A CBS panel of undecided voters in Ohio chose Mr. Romney, 6-2. A video of the dismay of CBS "This Morning" co-host Norah O'Donnell when this was reported is zipping across the Internet.

The Navy and shipbuilding are very important in southeast Virginia. With his wisecrack, the president may have kissed the state goodbye....

The internet has come into play where the old media once had a near airtight monopoly on the current events knowledge of the average American. If you’re not on Facebook or get tweets, you probably have friends who do.

Old political trends are in danger. And not a moment too soon.

Everyone, Please read Jack Kelly’s column!

On election night, aside from the Marxist, the biggest losers will be the “mainstream” journ0lists.

We can barely wait to see their faces!

I do think we are seeing the big break for Romney. It’s been building since even before Debate#1. And it started to accelerate end of last week. I think it will become an avalance as this week goes on.

Barry and the ‘RATS know all about the Navy as we saw from their backdrops at their National Convention. They just don’t know much ABOUT THE U.S. NAVY.

Obama destroyed the careful media image of himself. He appeared lost and disinterested in the first debate and like a nasty politician in the last debate. Americans have not responded well to the real Obama outside the filter of an adoring press.

Romney destroyed the false narrative the media/Obama campaign had created for him. Romney came across as a calm, competent, and nice guy with an optimistic plan. Americans have responded well to Romney in person free of the Obamamedia.

The trend strongly favors Romney going into the last week and the Obama administration can’t change that. Let’s pray it’s enough for victory.

The only thing Obie knows about the Navy is what he learned from The Village People.

He missed a couple of things: the Navy commissioned its first submarine in 1900 and its first aircraft carrier in 1922, but it was undoubtedly in the planning stages by 1917. So Obama was wrong on four out of four.

This is why I’ve always said that the key to Obama’s success is that he isn’t particularly intelligent, but he appears intelligent to stupid people. Hollywood celebrities think he’s a god for the same reason that your dog thinks you’re a god.

——Economist Timur Kuran coined the term to explain why totalitarian regimes usually collapse suddenly. A preference cascade happens when people discover millions of others share their doubts about the Great Leader. Massive media bias has made the term applicable here, Mr. Reynolds said. The Barack Obama that Americans saw in the debates bears little resemblance to the heroic figure portrayed by the news media.-——

Alexrod spend literally hundred of millions of dollars to careful craft a media driven Romney persona.....

In 90 minutes during the first debate Romney shattered that image and exposed the media made demigod Obama as a fraud and phony

Humpty dumpty is broken and all the kings men can not put him back together again ....

While Obama was clearly wrong on both points, the other factor that comes into play is that his sarcasm and condescension isn’t going to play well with the undecided. While libs love to talk down to the general public, the average voter has had it with Obama’s claims that his policies are good but that he just isn’t “explainin it well enough to us dumb voters.”

Bottom line is that Obama’s policies are not the only thing hurting him. Campaigning to the contrary, Obama loves bullies and that is how he works. For most of middle America, this attitude does not play well.

I just keep telling myself that God is in charge and however it comes out will be HIS will. That way, if Romney wins I can’t shout “Praise the Lord!”. And if obama wins I won’t sink into a deep depression and/or blow my brains out.

A preference cascade happens when people discover millions of others share their doubts about the Great Leader. Massive media bias has made the term applicable here, Mr. Reynolds said.

A preference cascade occurs when people suddenly realize it's OK to believe their lying eyes — the emperor really does have no clothes!

Timur Kuran, of Duke University, advanced the terminology in his 1997 book Private Truths, Public Lies: The Social Consequences of Preference Falsification. Here is Amazon's 'book description':

Preference falsification, according to the economist Timur Kuran, is the act of misrepresenting one's wants under perceived social pressures. It happens frequently in everyday life, such as when we tell the host of a dinner party that we are enjoying the food when we actually find it bland. In Private Truths, Public Lies Kuran argues convincingly that the phenomenon not only is ubiquitous but has huge social and political consequences. Drawing on diverse intellectual traditions, including those rooted in economics, psychology, sociology, and political science, Kuran provides a unified theory of how preference falsification shapes collective decisions, orients structural change, sustains social stability, distorts human knowledge, and conceals political possibilities.

A common effect of preference falsification is the preservation of widely disliked structures. Another is the conferment of an aura of stability on structures vulnerable to sudden collapse. When the support of a policy, tradition, or regime is largely contrived, a minor event may activate a bandwagon that generates massive yet unanticipated change.

In distorting public opinion, preference falsification also corrupts public discourse and, hence, human knowledge. So structures held in place by preference falsification may, if the condition lasts long enough, achieve increasingly genuine acceptance. The book demonstrates how human knowledge and social structures co-evolve in complex and imperfectly predictable ways, without any guarantee of social efficiency.

Private Truths, Public Lies uses its theoretical argument to illuminate an array of puzzling social phenomena. They include the unexpected fall of communism, the paucity, until recently, of open opposition to affirmative action in the United States, and the durability of the beliefs that have sustained India's caste system.
