Romney's unforeseen upheavals in Fla. (the storm)

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Hurricane Sandy forced Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney to shuffle his final-days campaign schedule, canceling three planned Virginia events and shifting his time to Ohio instead after a flyaround in Florida, where early voting kicked off Saturday.

The storm added an air of uncertainty to the closing days of the race for both campaigns. In Romney's case, the campaign had not laid out a full list of events for the final week, and has instead been targeting events a few days out.

The question mark that Sandy presented for the campaigns came on a day when Romney, barnstorming through Florida, touted bipartisanship as his surrogates threw red meat to the partisan crowd.

-snip-

The practical reality for both candidates is in dealing with the storm in a careful way. But Obama has the advantage of being able to visit storm-ravaged areas as president. Obama's events Saturday were dotted with briefing calls related to the storm. And in every state, both candidates are running low on time to make their final cases.

Romney cancelled an appearance at U of R in Richmond today because of weather. We’re bummed.

Sandy will be long gone by election day. It’ll be moved out by Wednesday and even if it takes three days to restore electricity that’s still a few days left before having to vote. Considering it’s gonna hit BLUE states the hardest. I’m not worried.

In general though, God has aimed well this time as the brunt of the storm will hit Wash. DC, New York, Boston, MA, and probably mostly the northern part of VA. Oh, and New Jersey. All of them Dem strongholds, so if going to vote gets messed up by the storm, it will be in predominantly Lib states. Not that I wish a bad storm on anyone, however, if it is going to happen, at least I like the locations better than some others, like SC, NC, or FL, where it would have caused Pubs real potential problems getting to the polls. Hope the direction of this storm doesn’t veer off in some other direction; that it’s path is set.

I agree! I’d much rather this storm slap around the liberal NE than just about anywhere.

I don’t want anyone hurt or to die, BUT if they can’t vote, I won’t be to sad about it.
