1. The storm surge is going to funnel straight into Newark, NJ.
2. The Passaic river basin will be flooded for days if not a week or longer.

...so Zero is ‘monitoring’ Hurricane Benghazi...hope he does a better job for the northeast than he did for the Ambassador and the other three men in Libya...

If Benghazi doesn't hurt Obama, a stupid storm won't either.

This storm can only help Obama. Seriously, I think its the only thing that can help him at this time.. Divine intervention?

RE: Coleman Lanterns: “the newer ones will run on unleaded gasoline”.

The old ones do too.

There are a few ‘silver linings’ with Hurricane Benghazi...temperatures will be reasonably moderate, so there will be no danger of people freezing to death; no widespread ice and snow...

Yep. Cops, firefighters... all rescue-based people are always in a no-win sit. Especially the guys who have to rescue mtn climbers and Coast Guard who do sea rescues.

let’s remember that this is the liberal and effete northeast that we’re talking about

I'll grant you that it's liberal. Effete?? Don't be ridiculous. If you're talking about Manhattan metrosexuals, then you should be specific, but don't lump in the rest of us. We're Yankees, and we're busy making our boats fast, our homes secure and our families safe.

Just like you.

The model I’m looking at says Monday morning Sandy takes an almost 90 degree turn west and crashes into the mainland.

I’m not questioning the model but that seems so crazy on the face of it.

I disagree.

The storm that landed in New Orleans during the GOP convention helped Obama, according to the liberal media. It actually FROZE public opinion while Obama was ahead... it forced the GOP to cancel a full convention day, and it helped the Obama campaign in the process.

Well guess what! Lo and behold, Obama is BEHIND now!!! Our side is winning.

Reason would suggest that a heavy, supersaturated dose of storm coverage will likely freeze public opinion while Romney is AHEAD. This limits Obama’s campaigning days, and minimizes his chances to change the dynamic of the race. Not good news for the commies in the white house.

In the spirit of Katrina, let me be the first to say, “ people shouldn’t live along the coast and in places where a hurricane would hit.”

I'm 100+ miles inland as the crow flies and as of last night there were forecasts of sustained tropical storm force winds plus cat one hurricane gusts for a 12 hour period 11 AM - 11 PM Monday.

The problem is pretty simple, there’s a dual bureaucracy with the hurricane center and storm center with duplication and overlap. But the hurricane center which has the better handle on the storm is not allowed to keep predicting or even give out advance warnings for a non-hurricane

I wrote to my congresscritter a couple of years ago when it seemed as though the NHC was too eager to wipe its hands of storms.

Then, as now, there are no other systems brewing

I could understand it if they were tracking multiple storms but when a howler is headed for the I-95 corridor they should be empowered REQUIRED to stay with it until out of US territory.

Obama, and the media, will use whatever outcome of this storm in order to paint Obama as a Hero. Watch for it...

I live about 45 miles inland from the MS coast. I grew up in Mobile so I feel your pain. I admit I was being a smartass because during Katrina I can’t tell you the number of people who made that stupid comment. People live along the coast because of jobs. That crap we buy at Walmart from China doesn’t get airdropped in Kansas. And our ships aren’t built in Indiana.
