Voters looking to cast their ballots early found long lines Saturday across Maryland, as the opening of the presidential election met with the urgent preparation for the incoming Hurricane Sandy.
Many complained on social media that they waited more than an hour and a half on the first day of early voting, as officials said initial turnout appeared to be far higher than in the last statewide election. Some residents said they wanted to vote as soon as possible so they wouldn't have to worry about it during the storm, expected to start hitting Maryland late Sunday.

"I said, 'Suppose it's really nasty out,'" he said, standing among about 50 people at St. Brigid's Parish Center. "I'm 75 years old. I don't know if I want to go out if it's really raining."
Early voting will run through Thursday, one of the shortest windows in the country. Advocates for and against the statewide ballot issues on gambling and same-sex marriage are pushing their supporters to cast their ballots before Election Day. Proponents of charging in-state college tuition for some children of illegal immigrants also mobilized supporters.

I just early voted for Romney/Ryan in Florida and I have a huge thrill up my leg!!! It felt great!
Bad side, lots of black, minorities and ugly women in line. The uglies are usually libs.
True. But the cleanup is going to be keeping people busy (and somewhat distracted). New England/NY is one of Obama’s biggest population strongholds. The democrat non-ideologues may decide it’s just too hard to get to the polls. I think it could work to the Republicans’ advantage, at least in gross numbers of turnout.
Just a thought. Time will tell.

Registered voters always lean more Democrat than likely voters. It’s always good for Republicans if something holds turnout down. That’s why Democrats are always focused on increasing turnout anyway they can. If every registered voter voted, Democrats would win every election.
If GOP is truly more energized there it may help in CT/MA/PA/VA Senate races and in NH/PA/VA presidential races. I doubt there are any other races there GOP can win. Rat vote may be depressed further. And those frustrated and mad because of the weather and power outages are less likely to vote warm and fuzzy. If Obama tries to parade in with storm relief Mitt has available video of him doing the same as Governor. I doubt the One remembers that. Mitt should prepare, but hold, a response ad just in case. It might become the final straw.
There will be a lot of broken glass around. We will see how many broken glass republicans there are, and how many broken glass democrats.
And I believe it will stay around longer than people think. In that region, there are mountain ranges to the west of the coast. Like last year, it may pass over the costal cities without much damage, but dump rain in the mountains, which will then have flash flooding all they way beck to the coast. It will be a two punch hurricane.

Ok, here's the deal, as soon as this is over with after NOV. 6th. I SAY WE IMMEDIATELY START THE VOTING FOR THE ELECTION IN 2016, that early enough for you IDIOTS
I don't want to hear about a storm either. Storm or no storm, before early voting started, somehow WE ALL MANAGED TO GET TO THE POLLS, and some in horse and buggy. Just shut up.
Conservatives usually plan better, so they are more likely to get their votes in before fleeing the area (if they must flee).
Anything to allow ballot box stuffing under the ruse of "disenfranchised voters".
