I'll bet that your modem's manual will show you that those two lights indicate signals coming TO you via the Internet -- and your "black hole" is FR not "answering back"...

Thanks for the suggestions.

As I did that, I realized that some of that stuff I didn’t really use anyway.

And now the page is less cluttered and easier to navigate.

Here is an interesting thread that may make your FR use easier and more efficient.

I cleaned up my account and found that I didn’t use much of it anyway and it IS loading better.

Would it help if people set their “Brevity” setting for their pings to “Headers” instead of “Text”?

Brevity = Headers definitely will make the pages load faster. And that’s simply a click to toggle one way or the other. Thanks.

I wrote this around 8 years ago(about the time I signed up here on FR actually lol) It REALLY seems to help with all page loads in Firefox:

How To Speed Up Firefox (Helpful Vanity)

I'm not sure if there are any differences with latter version of Firefox, but it may be well worth one's while to look in to. Some of those settings may be set by default now.

Awesome!! The above thread is actually the 4th link on the page if you search "How To Speed Up Firefox" in Google! That's pretty cool, considering how old that is.

Thanks! Hopefully, it will cut down on those double-posts as well.

About half the time in the evenings I can’t even get on anymore. Not much use to me since that began around the time of the second debate.

Did the storm affect you any?

We have have nothing more than typical fall weather. Mostly overcast, sometimes rain, sometimes gusts, but NOTHING like was forecast or other areas have experienced.

We definitely dodged the bullet, although for CNY the primary problem was likely to be power outages and maybe some localized flooding. I have no clue what it would take to flood my community, but it is certainly more than we’ve seen the last few days.

No problems here! A little windy and now it’s gotten cold. Down in the upper 30s every night this week and only in the low 60s in the afternoon.

We’re warmer than you. That’s pretty weird that we’ve been so much warmer than areas so much further south than us.

One problem has to be the large amount of duplicate (or triplicate) posts on FR. How about having a little patience when we post?
Try to allow at least 5 minutes before you repost.

That’s not necessary. All someone has to do is open a second tab and check their ping list to see if the comment posted.

If it’s not there, then they can hit the post button again.

Sometimes it’s just a matter of someone’s computer hiccuping, or they accidentally double click, or sometimes there’s a weird message from FR about Proxy errors, but that often happens with large ping lists. Then it’s good to check on another tab to see if the comment posted.

No need to wait so long before retrying. Sometimes just checking to see if it posted will avoid multiple posts.

Thanks. Rarely have a much of a problem except when FR is down, but one thing that should be included in your advice is a free speed test: http://speedtest.net/.

Wait till you see Begin Test and hit that (NOT Start now to increase speed)

Mine was 14.21mbps download, and 42ps for ping, and 0.86 for upload, which is good for $22.00 a month from Verizon (with phone service). Thank God.

Amazing, 426 posts from 2004! I thank God for FF, which is far better from me (due to multiple tabs and other tweaks via TabMixPlus, and Colorful Tabs, BBBcodeXtra,Count Word n character, Menu editor, the Noia theme, etc.) than IE8 which is kinda gov. issue, or Chrome which lacks the degree of customization FF has.

Also, you can copy from View Selection Source (with the html formatting) and paste it in FR posts.

Correction, that is $30.00 a month for high sped internet enhanced, plus 29.00 for Verizon freedom essentials, and 13.50 for taxes, including 2.33 for the Obama Phone (actual name) via the universal service fee, which may essentially be a campaign contribution.
