My pal Guy Benson found a juicy nugget that helps to bring more clarity to the news from Gallup yesterday that shows Romney leading Obama in the early vote by a full seven points, 52-45%. Almost exactly four years ago (October 28, 2008), according to Gallup,
Obama was massacring John McCain among early voters with a fifteen-point lead, 55-40%. That means, at least according to Gallup, that Obama's early vote advantage has dropped 22 points when compared to '08.
Benson also notes that the percentage of voters who have or intend to vote early was 33% in 2008 and remains at 33% today. As Don Surber said in this tweet, "People don't wait in line to vote for the status quo[.]"
In his email to me, Benson makes The Point: "Obama had a 55/40 lead on McCain with early voters in '08, but only led by 3 pts with the election day crowd. He ended up winning by 7 overall."
In other words, among those who actually voted on Election Day, Obama's advantage over McCain was only three-points. Obama won by seven overall because of the early vote margins he had accumulated. If Gallup is correct about 2012 and Romney being ahead by seven with early voters, that means Obama's in very deep trouble. Even polls that show Obama with a small lead in states like Ohio confirm Romney will win among those who vote on Election Day.

That condition is actually a dangerous one for our country at this time.
Violence is more likely if 0bama’s defeat is a surprise.
Voted by mail absentee. Best way.
Tagline!
Yes, I suspect even the likes of McQueeg and Mrs. Palin would have had a chance this time.
Just as glad they're not running, though. It would be dicey, at best.
The base of the democratic party doesnt think its remotely possible that Obama may actually lose.

It is amazing isn’t it? The arrogance, the delusion, the snobbery, they feed off of each other in this weird surreal political circle jerk. They are blind to polls showing O behind and embrace everything that shows him ahead. When Mitt pulls ahead the headline is the race is tightening. But the headline is never that Mitt is winning. This isn’t only true with the usual MSM liberal crowd. I even see this on Fox as well. It’s like they just can’t wrap their pinheads around the idea that maybe,...just maybe...Obama is toast.
That is what is going to make election night so damn delicious. Can’t wait to watch MSNBC...I’m not sure which meltdown I’m looking more forward to, Chrissy’s or Lawrence’s.

Me too!! I go to my polling place. Stand in line, get the ballot and PRAY! VOTE...get my “ I voted” sticker and come home. And I DROP THE BALLOT in the locked box personally!!!
Polly.....waving hi to you my friend!
LOL!
was just thinking. if the media try to portray sandy as being under control because of the great work of obama, they cant the complain things are so bad as to extend the election. and then of course, if they try to lobby for an election extension, then that must mean obama is not doing the job.
I think i pay undue homage to intrade.com.
Why would a neutral betting site (offshore though it may be) give Obama a 63% chance of winning?
Tell me to stop looking at European oddmakers!
Well if 0 was hoping to get any traction from the storm that hit us, I wouldn’t bet on it no matter how “presidential “ he acts. We just got our power back, even though many more people in the NE haven’t yet. Another thing to consider, many polling places are set up in fire stations, they, along with hospitals and police stations get top priority over business and residential customers when it comes to restoring power in these situations. This storm will be a bad memory by Nov 6.
Good point. I also am a believer and perhaps I need to vote early as well, for the same reason. Another reason is that I am a deer hunter and Minnesota Season A is opening this coming week, Nov 3-11. Not to sound morbid, but perhaps that is another reason for me to vote early, just to make sure my vote is cast!
My next question for anyone with a MN ping, is how do I vote early? Just go down to the courthouse or Rochester/Olmsted County gubmint center and vote?
