Once again, leading from behind.

since we are talking hurricane politics, consider that the worst hit thus far are all blue states: NJ, NY, DE, MD, CT.

Electoral effect on Romney: Near zero.

Two swing states (VA, PA) have been affected, at least residually, in their blue areas (northern VA, greater Philly). This could affect turnout and certainly has affected early voting.

Electoral effect on Obama: potentially decisive in a bad way.

Can you imagine the field day the press would have had if Bush did this?

I don't think you've taken the time to fully understand today's homes and neighborhoods. We have these things now, called "Light Switches" that make lights go on in rooms, and something called "Cable TV" that people can watch. We don't need as many "candles" and "transistor radios"...

Once upon a time, at a company where I was Director of Operations, we had an emergency directors meeting about a network outage.

I gave a brief on the outage, steps being taken to get it back up and when we expected to be live again, and started coordinating resources..

HR director whips out her laptop, fires up Outlook, and starts hammering away at the keyboard.

I asked her what she was doing. Her reply? "I'm sending out a company-wide email to let everyone know when the network will be back up".

We all just stared. It took her 3 minutes to figure it out.

Same old, same old. Take someone completely inexperienced in disaster management and have that person be the manager of disaster management efforts. You’d think he would have had some experienced person prepare the instructions for him to read.

Despite the heightened expectation of widespread power and cable television failures, everyone from the president to local newscasters seem to expect the public to rely entirely on the Internet and their TVs for vital news and instructions.

Yup. When the power goes out, stay tuned to your tv stations and computers for weather updates! And libs everywhere are whacking off over obama’s god-like handling of Sandy. Meanwhile, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell is dissing Romney for raising money for relief efforts. She calls them wasteful.

FEMA recommends using a Passenger Pigeon to send a short message with address where help is needed. They have authorized a grant of $100 million to ensure this Nation has enough Passenger Pigeons. Smiling as I type this.

Meanwhile....

Mitt Romney helps load a truck with relief supplies that will be delivered to storm affected areas in New Jersey during a Kettering Storm Relief event on October 30, 2012 in Kettering, Ohio.
