Ahead of his latest unilateral statehood bid at the United Nations, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is claiming that he will never allow a third intifada.
In an interview with Israel’s Channel 2 News, Abbas said, “There will be no intifada, and we will not, under any circumstances, return to using weapons or violence.”
"As long as I'm sitting here, in this position, I will not allow an intifada. We will act only through diplomatic and peaceful means,” he said in the interview which was held Thursday in his Ramallah headquarters.
"I'm ready to return to negotiations," said Abbas, repeating claims he recently made in conversations with EU representatives, and calling on Israel to bring back the peace negotiations to the agenda ahead of the upcoming elections. "This issue will determine the fate of your children, I am the last person with whom you can reach an agreement,” he claimed.

I don’t think it matters too much whether you believe him or not, or whether he is sincere or not. This is a promise he cannot keep.
Knowing that he can’t keep the promise, he made it. Therefore, it is blatantly insincere. Either that, or he’s a fool, which he is not.
Of course not. The so-called Palis know it to be fruitless since Israel built their wall and cut the Palis off from entering Israel at random (losing many jobs in the process). When's the last time you've heard of a suicide bomber taking out a bus, cafe, wedding, marketplace or other? I used to watch that occur weekly under Arafat's PLO. The Israelis learned how to deal with these murdering self-destructive non-productive savages.
They wanted Gaza, they got Gaza. Yet, they still stew in their hateful juices and want more from the so-called 1967 pre-war borders (Obama wants that too). Too bad, let them rot in their self-imposed ghettoes while Israel has to deal with their Iranian brethern. Pali culture is the as&hole of the entire region. They and many others in the ME could just disappear tomorrow and the World wouldn't miss them, other that the bleeding hearts and the UN.
