This was no surprise to me when I heard Barry say that in the debate. As while he was in the IL Senate Obama voted to Ban:

• 'Assault Rifles'. From ARs and Aks to the 9mm Hi-Point Carbine. Including my beloved FAL₍₁₎, and natch the kick-a$$ AR-10 (if it's semi-automatic, it's banned, period).
  
• 'Sniper Rifles' (Any scoped, bolt action rifle).
  
• Shotguns with 'high capacity' magazines (over three rounds).
  
• Shotguns with 'Pistol Grips' (falls under 'Assault Rifle).
• ALL HANDGUNS

The IL Ban Barry was in favor of was so Draconian it made CA's look minor in comparison, but that's how Barry wants it. The fact is Obama doesn't want anyone to have any Firearm, period.

But that's logical for him -- it's the way Tyrants need it to get into and stay in power. Only 'the gubmint' and his 'civilian security forces' would be armed.

(1) IMHO the FAL is the best Battle Rifle ever conceived by man. It's not called 'The Right Arm Of The Free World' for nothing (the AR-10 is a close 2nd).
