The amount we pay in taxes feeds the beast far less than the amount we spend—because it grows the economy, which produces more revenue, etc. It’s why we want to stop the government growth in the first place.
Don’t worry so much about what you pay in taxes—that’s chump change next to the muliplicative effect of what you spend. The best way to go Galt is to stop spending—just let your wealth build and sit on it. The industrialists in Atlas Shrugged stopped paying taxes, but that wasn’t what their increasingly greedy society needed from them the most. Once you have a certain amount of disposable income, whatever the people might think, it’s not your taxes that they need the most, it’s your spending. They haven’t learned that yet.
